Laurie Weir

Laurie Weir grew up around teachers and enjoyed helping her mother put up bulletin boards and get her classroom ready each year. It was a natural choice for her to major in education. After graduating from Jamestown University, she taught kindergarten at an international school before moving to Orange County to teach at a local private school. She has a wide range of teaching experiences including 10 years of full time classroom teaching in elementary education, subbing, tutoring, and homeschooling her daughter in middle school. The idea of offering classes to homeschoolers grew into C3 Classes.

Adrienne Collins

Adrienne Collins' journey to co-founding C3 Classes feels like the natural culmination of a lifelong passion for education. It began with makeshift "school" sessions in the Colorado basement of her best friend’s house, grew through her undergraduate studies in Communications, and deepened with a Master’s in Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Over the years, she has woven together her experiences as a public school teacher and homeschooling mom, building the foundation for C3. For Adrienne, C3 is an ever-evolving gift. She is deeply thankful for the families who entrust their children to C3, allowing her to continue doing what she loves most — fostering a love of learning, nurturing young minds, and supporting home schooling families.

Art: Vicki Frazier

Vicki Frazier has taught numerous drawing, painting, and design courses in the homeschool community for over 12 years, as well as homeschooled her own kids who are now adult creatives. She is also an author/illustrator and founder of Wandering Bear Books, a children’s book and educational platform. She loves teaching her students to think outside the box creatively and believes in teaching the skills of drawing in addition to enjoying the simple experience of just creating something.

Kindergarten: Sarah Draper

With a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University, Sarah has dedicated her career to nurturing young minds and creating joyful learning environments. She began teaching in public schools and has since expanded her experience to homeschool campuses throughout Orange County, adapting curriculum and instruction to meet a variety of student needs.

For the past five years, Sarah has also led the children’s program for ages 2–12 at her local church, combining her passion for education with meaningful community involvement. As a mother of four, she understands the importance of balancing structure with creativity, and she brings that same energy and insight into every classroom she enters.

Outside of teaching, Sarah enjoys traveling, working out, reading, baking, and cheering on her kids in their many sports activities!

1st/2nd Grade ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies : Karina Penkethman

Picture

Karina Penkethman comes from a family where travel, arts, and life-long learning were encouraged. Her childhood summers in Finland deepened her love for nature and instilled in her an interest in language, literature, and diverse cultures. She continues to spend her free time in nature and enjoys photography, painting, and writing. Karina has a masters in French and has taught French at universities and tutors it to children. Sparked by an interest in how children learn, Karina homeschooled her three sons through a hybrid charter. She loved the opportunity to read meaningful books together and enjoy outdoor adventures. Homeschooling taught her compassion for the unique way each person learns. Now she finds joy in helping students progress and express themselves, whether it is through writing, speaking, or visual arts.

Math, Grammar, and Reading: Lisa Antonic

Over the past 15 years Lisa, a homeschooling mom of four, has grown to love teaching. After she left the corporate world in 1996 to pursue a career in Montessori teaching, Lisa became inspired to teach science with hands-on experiences and reading through great children’s literature. Lisa loves to use children’s literature to teach reading comprehension, vocabulary, story sequencing/story map, literary devices, making inferences, comparisons and much more. Later, she embarked on the adventure of homeschooling after four years of teaching preschool through first grade. Her desire to teach in a small group setting bloomed since teaching with a local homeschool co-op. Lisa is an avid collector of children’s books, enjoys cooking, tending her garden, and exploring the great outdoors with her family.

Math and Science: Ally Contreras

Ally Contreras has always had a passion for working with kids and teaching. With a B.A in Interdisciplinary studies and a CA multiple subject teaching credential, she brings a dynamic and innovative approach to teaching math, civics, history, and science. Ms. Contreras believes in fostering curiosity and critical thinking skills in her students, encouraging them to explore and question the world around them. Whether she’s creating interactive learning activities or discussing the latest current events, she strives to make all her classes engaging and accessible to all learners. Outside the classroom, Ms. Contreras enjoys going on adventures with her family and watching her son play soccer.

Writing: Jenny Dee

Jenny Dee has been a writer ever since a pencil first touched her little pre-school fingers. With decades of experience in professional writing and marketing, her background includes executive communications planning, technical and creative writing, editing, advertising, public speaking, project organization, and marketing campaign management. She graduated with a Bachelor's in International Business and a minor in Professional Writing, as well as holds a Master's in Psychology.

An avid creator, her career in professional writing anchored her passion and encouraged her dream to become a self-published author in 2014. After publishing her first travel memoir, Butterfly Travels, Jenny has since released an empowered women’s romance trilogy, several children’s books, a fictional abuse awareness novel, and a humorous online dating memoir. You can say the written word is just simply part of her essence, and she loves using this gift to help inspire the students at C3 to tap into their inner authors.
