Supporting homeschool families as they disciple their children in the ways of the Lord.

About Us

Welcome to Pure Pursuers Co-op!

2 Timothy 2:22
“So, flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”

We’re excited to begin our seventh year of Pure Pursuers Co-op! God has placed this ministry on our hearts to encourage and support Christian homeschool families as they train up their children in the ways of the Lord. This year, we have a variety of exciting classes, activities, and events planned. Our goal is to provide a place to build Christ-centered relationships and help prepare our children to be lights for Him in our communities.

The Back Story....

More and more families are recognizing the lasting value of homeschooling. God placed a burden on our hearts to support both new and experienced homeschool families, and we saw a real need for a Christ-centered co-op in Merced County. Winton First Baptist Church recognized this need as well and launched Pure Pursuers as a ministry of the church to support homeschooling families. With a strong foundation in family-based ministries like AWANA and Children’s Choir, WFBC provides a nurturing environment for this co-op to thrive—and these programs have quickly become favorites among our families.

We’ve seen God’s hand on this ministry from the beginning. Without advertising, we’ve grown to a group of around 25 families, with children from infants to high schoolers. The community is full of love, support, and Christ-like growth. Conflicts are rare and usually lead to meaningful teaching moments between parents and children. This group has truly been a blessing, and we’re excited to see how God continues to move.

Our Guiding Principles

  • Christ-Centered: Every class and activity keeps Christ at the core.

  • Christ-Like Behavior: We aim for Christ-like conduct from both children and adults, knowing we're all a work in progress.

  • Parent-Led: This is not a drop-off program. Parents are active participants—teaching, assisting, and engaging alongside their kids. We ask each parent to help or teach at least four enrichment classes a year.

During enrichment classes, parents are expected to teach on their week, assist their children and manage behavior. For electives, parents are welcome to stay but asked not to bring younger siblings to avoid distractions. Many parents coordinate childcare with a fellow parent to make this work. We also offer  opportunities for fellowship throughout the year, including Ladies’ Nights Out, fantasy sports leagues for the dads and everyone's favorite, our annual camp-out weekend.

What Do We Offer?

The better question is—what don’t we offer?

  • Enrichment & PE: Twice monthly for Preschool–High School on Thursday mornings.

  • Elective Classes: Three optional K–12 classes, including past offerings like Spanish, Art, Science, Sewing, and Apologetics.

  • Special Events: Academic fairs, field trips, and holiday celebrations.

  • Children’s Choir: Two full productions each year with singing, acting, choreography, and costumes.

  • AWANA: Sunday nights for Preschool–5th grade, part of WFBC’s larger Sunday night ministry with Bible studies and youth programs for the whole family.

  • Summer Fun: Swim parties, movie nights, field trips, and a back-to-school bash.

  • Azure Standard Drop Site: Come pick up you healthy, afforadable groceries, supplements, home/ranch supplies, gardening starts and much more!

Meeting Schedule

We begin September 17th and meet every Thursdays, with a few adjustments for holidays.  Thursdays alternate between long and short Thursdays.  Our long Thursdays start at 10:00am and include the Enrichment Class, afternoon elective classes and choir..  Our short Thursdays start at 12:00pm and include the afternoon elective classes and choir.. Children’s Choir meets weekly on Thursday afternoons. This year we will also be starting an Intermural sports class  on Friday afternoons.  AWANA runs Sunday evenings starting September 13th. Electives meet twice a month, and a summer calendar packed with fun activities is also available. Once you're registered and we’ve met with you, we’ll provide access to our Member Portal that includes all of the calendars, class registrations and much more!

Below are some of the enrichment themes we've explored in the past, including Countries and Cultures (The Amazing Race), Inventors & Inventions, Fifty-Nifty United States, Trades/Life Skills, and Continents. Our 2026-2027  theme is a split theme - the first half of the year we will explore different Eras of History and the second part we will explore some new trade jobs with experts from their fields coming to share with us. The format for the older students will continue to be a fun yearly long competition format.  Our older students have thoroughly enjoyed it this past year. The finalized calendar will be posted soon.

Children's Choir

For Winter 2026, our Children's Choir will perform a Christmas musical (K–8th focused, with parts for teens and adults). The specific production will be announced soon.

We’ve performed ten musicals so far—one of the highlights of co-op! It’s a fun, meaningful way for the kids to bond and share Christ with others.

You can view past performances on the WintonChurch YouTube page.

Is there a cost?

We have a Family Registration Fee of $10 per year.  There is a $50 annual fee per child to help cover supplies and overhead. Payment plans are available for larger families.

Elective classes have their own fees—typically around $30-60 per student, plus curriculum if needed. All fees are nonrefundable.

Most Enrichment Class activities include a supply list sent 1 week in advance with items you can bring from home to keep costs low.

Field trips may have a small fee if admission is required.

WOW!!!

We know—it’s a lot! But don’t be overwhelmed. It may look like a full schedule in writing, but it feels manageable in real life.

While not every family can participate in all the add-ons (like Choir, AWANA, or electives), we encourage you to join as much as possible. The more time our kids and families spend together, the stronger the bonds—and the better the co-op experience.

Many of us grew up forming lifelong friendships through church and shared activities. That’s what we hope to create for our children: Christ-centered relationships that last.

We understand schedules vary, but we ask that you stay as committed and consistent as possible. Your involvement helps make this community thrive.

We hope that your family decides to join us!
