Jerusha Betzold To All Instructors

Hi there! My name is Jerusha Betzold.

I am a passionate and caring art educator with a deep love for nature, a strong Christian faith, and a background in classical education that shapes my approach to teaching and learning. My faith inspires me to recognize and appreciate the beauty, order, and purpose within God’s creation, and I strive to share that perspective with my students by encouraging them to explore, observe, and draw inspiration from the natural world. With extensive experience working with children, I am dedicated to creating a nurturing, structured, and inspiring environment where students feel valued, supported, and confident in their creative abilities. I am currently working towards an Early Education degree. I believe that art is a meaningful way for children to grow in curiosity, discipline, patience, and a sense of wonder.

I am especially passionate about guiding students to slow down and truly notice the details of the world around them—whether through sketching from nature, studying patterns and forms, or engaging in hands-on creative projects. My background in classical education influences my emphasis on foundational skills, careful observation, and the development of both technical ability and an appreciation for beauty. I seek to cultivate not only artistic growth, but also character, attentiveness, and a love of learning in each student.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time outdoors, often finding inspiration in quiet moments in nature. These personal passions naturally flow into my teaching, as I love incorporating outdoor experiences and nature-based art activities into my lessons. My goal as an educator is to help students develop strong artistic skills while also fostering a lasting appreciation for God’s creation, encouraging them to see the world with creativity, gratitude, and joy.
