Lily Benedict To All Instructors

Howdy there! My name is Lily Benedict

Ever since my mom helped me sew my first lap quilt when I was only 5 years old, I have enjoyed crafting hand-made items and learning new skills. After receiving a bunch of unknown tools, scrap leather, and leather crafting books for Christmas when I was 13 years old, I set about to teach myself how to use them all. What is the difference between chrome tanned leather and vegetable tanned leather? What is "casing"? How does one get a needle through such thick leather anyway?! These were all questions I had that were explained to me by helpful crafters in the leather isle at Hobby Lobby or through books. Nine years and many projects later, I have turned my passion for leather work into a business, and I am looking forward to sharing the little tricks I've learned along the way with other young folks like me who are interested in learning this art at SCOPE this year.
