Scott Klasen To All Instructors

**New Teacher**

Hi, I’m Scott Klasen, a math and science educator with 10+ years of experience helping students connect mathematics and science to the real world through hands-on learning, problem solving, and applied design challenges. I hold a master’s degree in chemistry and have taught a wide range of learners in traditional classroom settings.

As both a homeschooling parent and former homeschool student, I value learning environments that encourage curiosity, ownership, and disciplined thinking. I approach math much like an applied science or engineering course where students learn concepts not simply as procedures to memorize, but as tools for solving meaningful problems and understanding the world around them.

Whether students are building with manipulatives in the early grades, designing a blueprint, analyzing motion data, or exploring mathematical patterns, they are encouraged to actively engage with ideas, think critically, and develop a deep understanding of the concepts behind their work.

I’m passionate about helping students grow in confidence and perseverance as they learn to tackle challenges with creativity and discipline. I believe God has uniquely gifted each student with the ability to learn, create, and serve others, and my goal is to help students develop those gifts with confidence, and purpose.

I’m excited to partner with families through SCOPE Co-op to create engaging and thoughtful learning experiences that help students grow into confident problem solvers who can apply mathematics and science to the world around them.
