Tim Shaw To All Instructors

Hi, my name is Tim Shaw, and I am excited to be teaching middle and high school history at Scope! I am a graduate of the University of Northwestern with a degree in ancient and classical language and history. This will be my third year teaching, prior to which I have held positions in information technology, urban ministry, and library services.
My love of history began when as an eight year old I found a book about ancient Troy in my library, and was renewed in an Egyptian history class I took as a freshman. Since then I have branched into East Asian history, church history, and the history and philosophy of science. Humans are narrative creatures. We are all enthralled by a well told story. History is the story in which we live, and I want my students to be able to tell it back memorably.
I live in Brooklyn Park with my daughter and son. In my spare time, I read, hike, tend my orchard, study Japanese, and research genealogy.
