Drama/Music Offerings

DRAMA (2nd -12th)  - Pastor Rosie Daleiden

Through age-appropriate games, creative activities, and team-building exercises, students will grow in confidence while having fun. This class is designed to help students become more comfortable in front of an audience while exploring creativity, imagination, and collaboration. Students will learn basic acting skills and work together to bring characters and stories to life, channeling their energy into engaging rehearsals and performances.

As part of building confidence, students may also engage in brief, age-appropriate discussions about identity in Christ and the stewardship of their unique gifts, encouraging them to use their talents to glorify God.

Expectations
Students enrolled in Drama are expected to commit to performances in both the Winter and Spring Showcases and should be prepared to contribute their time and effort to rehearsals. Students will also be encouraged to consider writing and performing a monologue for the Art Gala. Participation requires focus during rehearsals and practicing line memorization at home. Students are expected to participate respectfully and work collaboratively in the classroom.

INTRO TO WORSHIP & CHOIR (1ST -6th)  - Pastor Rosie Daleiden

45 minute class*

Through age-appropriate, fun vocal exercises and warm-ups, group singing, worship hand and dance movements, games, and team-building activities, students will develop foundational skills in singing and musical expression while building confidence and joy in using their voices.

Students will learn essential vocal skills, including proper vocal health, breath support, pitch, blend, tone, and vowel modifications. They will also be introduced to basic music theory concepts such as the musical alphabet, rhythm, and pitch recognition. All instruction will be taught in a fun and supportive environment designed to help students grow at their own pace.

Students will sing together as a group while exploring modern worship songs and learning how music communicates truth, emotion, and creativity.

Students will also be introduced to biblical worship theology in an age-appropriate way, helping them understand what it means to worship God with both heart and voice, and how to steward their gifts for His glory. Monthly scripture memorization will be included to help students hide God’s Word in their hearts and grow in spiritual confidence and understanding. Students will also go through the book The Little Worshiper Who Wanted to Know Why by Nathan and Rachel French.

Students are encouraged to have a binder for this class to store materials sent home, such as music theory notes and handouts.

Expectations
Students enrolled in Intro to Worship & Choir are expected to commit to performances in both the Winter and Spring Showcases and should be prepared to participate fully in rehearsals. Consistent attendance, a willingness to sing, and participation in simple worship movements (such as hand motions and basic choreography) will support group success.

This class is primarily designed for elementary-aged students; however, middle school and high school students who desire to serve as student leaders are welcome to participate. Please reach out to Lynsie, our Secretary, if you need help enrolling.
