What is SCOPE?

SCOPE is a Christ-centered community of homeschool families dedicated to fostering a passion for learning and providing a high-quality, safe educational environment. Our mission includes cultivating strong families through support, encouragement, and fellowship.

SCOPE stands for St. Croix Valley Organization of Parent Educators

 

Q:

Is it required to be a Christian family in order to participate in SCOPE?

 

 

A:

All are welcome but you must acknowledge our Statement of Faith and adhere to the guidelines of SCOPE.

 

Q:

Where and when does this co-op meet?

 

 

A:

We meet on Tuesdays for 30 weeks, starting September 9th, 2025 - April 28th, 2026. Classes are from 9:00am - 4:30pm, unless they run late. 

 

Classes are held in Lakeland, MN at our host church.

 

Q:

What ages are attending your co-op? 

 

A:

We offer classes from PreK (3-4 year olds) - 12th grade.

SCOPE Membership fee: $100 / family

Building Usage fee: $100 / family

 

Annual class prices are as follows: 

30 minute class: $110/ student

1 hour class: $220/ student

90 min class: $330/student

3 hour class: $580/ student

3 week Exploratory class: $22/student 

Piano/Guitar lessons: $780/student for the year ($26 per 30 minute class) 

 

Semester class prices are as follows: 

90 min Young Engineers STEAM class: $275/ student per semester

 

Any additional supply fees vary per class/teacher. 

 

Q:

Does SCOPE offer a discount for multiple children in a family? 

 

 

A:

No, unfortunately at this time SCOPE does not offer a discount for multiple children.

 

Q:

What is your refund policy?

 

A:

SCOPE’s refund policy is as follows: 

  • The membership fee and building fee are non-refundable. 

  • Any class can be cancelled up until the first day of class (on 9/9/25) for a full refund. 

  • After the first day of class, no refunds are available. If you would like to switch levels or classes, please contact a board member at scope.homeschoolgroup@gmail.com to see if this is a possibility.

How do I apply to be a member of this co-op?

Once your membership is approved and registration is open, you will be able to login and register your students for classes.

Q:

When does registration begin?

 

A:

For the 2025- 2026 school year, registration opens to current families on July 1st, 2025 and for new families July 8th, 2025.

Registration is done online. 

Class Info + Requirements

Q:

Can I drop my child off at SCOPE?

A:

 

  • Drop-off is permitted no earlier than 8:45 AM, unless pre-approved or volunteering.

  • PreK and Kindergarten students must be accompanied to and from the classroom by a parent or guardians.

  • Regular hours of operation are 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM unless a class is held late. 

  • Students are not allowed in the SCOPE building outside of class hours. 

  • If someone other than a parent will be picking up your child, notify the SCOPE Board in advance.

Q:

What do we need to bring for classes?

 

A:

We recommend that each student brings a backpack with writing utensils, notebooks, and folders. Individual teachers may have additional supplies needed for their students, but that information will be announced to you before the class starts. 

 

If you will be here over lunch time, don’t forget a lunch! See below for more details on lunch.

What do we do for lunch? 

 

A:

Lunch for all students is from 12:00–12:30 PM.

PreK & K need to be supervised by parent/guardian.

Two microwaves and a small refrigerator are available.

Please remind students to clean up after themselves.

No lunch will be available for purchase. 

 

Q:

What are the parent requirements? Or What level of participation is expected of parents?

A:

SCOPE operates as a cooperative and depends on family involvement.

  • Each family is required to contribute 6 volunteer hours per year.

  • No buyout is available for the 2025-2026 year.
