Guidelines & Standards
GRACE is a cooperative homeschool program that thrives on the active participation of all member families. To ensure the success of our community, please follow these guidelines:
Parent Participation & Job Requirements
-
Each family must sign up for the required number of job credits, including at least one on-campus job.
-
A maximum of 3 job credits may be fulfilled through off-campus jobs. Refer to the FAQs for additional job credit details.
-
Parent jobs must be covered at all times. If coverage is needed, contact your campus attendance coordinator.
-
Each parent is allowed up to four uses of a substitute teacher or floater per semester. Beyond that, parents must secure their own approved replacement (someone who has passed a GRACE background check and agreed to GRACE policies).
-
Floaters are essential every week and must check in with the floater coordinator for each assigned hour. Floaters who miss more than four times per semester must find an approved substitute.
On-Campus Supervision
-
GRACE is not a drop-off program. A responsible adult must remain on campus to supervise their child(ren) at all times.
-
In rare cases (such as illness), another parent may supervise your child, but otherwise, parents are expected to be on-site at all times.
Volunteering & Background Checks
-
All families must commit to volunteer roles.
-
All volunteers must:
-
Complete a background check through the provider recommended by GRACE.
-
Read and agree to the Statement of Mission, Statement of Faith, Statement of Education, the Guidelines & Standards, and the Code of Culture.
-
Be officially approved to serve at GRACE.
-
Fees & Registration
-
A $150 non-refundable annual family membership fee is due within three days of membership approval.
-
All class and supply fees are due two weeks before the first day of classes. Class fees may be credited if necessary, but supply fees are non-refundable.
-
Failure to pay on time, or to make special arrangements, will result in membership suspension. Special arrangements cannot extend past mid-semester.
-
Class registration must be finalized two weeks before the start of classes. Any adds or drops must be completed by the end of the second week of classes.
Attendance & Conduct
-
Parent volunteers (teachers, assistants, floaters) must arrive on time and remain in the classroom for the entire class period.
-
Students are also expected to arrive on time and stay for the full class period. If a student needs to leave early, they must first get permission from the teacher.
-
Parents must supervise their children at all times when the children are not in class.
Teaching Roles
-
Volunteer teachers must complete the teacher application form.
-
To preserve GRACE’s mission and Christian identity, teachers must affirm in writing that:
-
They support the mission of GRACE.
-
Their beliefs align with the Statement of Faith.
-
They agree to uphold the Guidelines & Standards and the Code of Culture.
-
Dress Code & Student Behavior
-
GRACE does not enforce a formal dress code, but modest clothing that covers all private areas is required.
-
Wearing a GRACE t-shirt is encouraged.
-
Biting or aggressive behavior is not acceptable. Children who struggle with aggression must have a one-on-one aide, provided by the parent.
