About Us

CHRISTIAN HOME EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION

Christian Home Educators Association (C.H.E.A.) is a Christian homeschooling support group offering academic and social activities, field trips, clubs, service opportunities, fellowship, support, and encouragement for families in Ocala and Marion County, Florida.

Our mission within CHEA is to provide support to our members through information, assistance, encouragement, and fellowship by providing a variety of educational, social, character-developing, and extracurricular activities.

We are distinctly a Christian organization with the purpose of educating our children according to God's Word. As Christian educators, we feel that education begins by following biblical principles to train our children as in:

Proverbs 22:6 (AMP) -

"Train up a child in the way he should go
(and in keeping with his individual gift or bent),
and when he is old he will not depart from it."

Informational meetings are offered to our members twice a year. The organization is based upon volunteer officers and other leaders who serve on a steering committee for guidance and accountability. Leaders and member families volunteer to help plan and run activities and other offerings. We are family oriented and a no-pressure group. Members may participate in as much or as little as they desire.

Our logo, selected by our membership, was designed by Doug Johnson. He shared, “The blue field with the intruding light bars interacting with the letters is symbolic of heaven and God's mercy. The gold over-sized C is indicative of Christ's majesty.” The Scripture was chosen to signify the passion of our members to be more Christ-like; one in spirit and purpose.

“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ,
if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit,
if any tenderness and compassion,
then make my joy complete by being like-minded,

having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit,
but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

Each of you should look not only to your own interests,
but also to the interests of others.
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.”

- Philippians 2:1-5
