What is HOPE High?

HOPE High is a homeschool co-op with the goal of lifting the burden of schooling at home. A la carte class offerings are tutor-led and provide a collaborative environment for your student to deepen their educational experience. By meeting once per week, our students get the social interaction they crave without sacrificing everything we love about homeschooling; not to mention building a community of other like-minded families! Curriculum is selected and vetted by the directors but class requests are welcome (especially if we have a tutor who is excited to teach!) 

What if my student has a break in their schedule?

HOPE has a monitor study hall area on site. Students are welcomed and encouraged to use this time as best suits their goals. Students bring cards, work on other school work, eat a snack or just hang out! Directors or other parent volunteers are in the space to ensure appropriate conduct. Students are required to be in the monitored study hall area if they are on site and not in a class. 

Are parents required to stay on site?

No. HOPE is intended to be an independent format. We do encourage parents to be involved if they have capacity! Sign up to spend an hour in the study hall as a parent representative, teach a class, help with campus set up or take down! Not required but much appreciated. :)

Do I have to take all classes offered?

No! Classes at HOPE are offered a la carte. Our goal is to have a wide variety of class offerings so that we can be a blessing to families no matter what curriulum or homeschool style you prefer. Need help with accountability for your core classes - awesome, HOPE can help! Want to add some electives like art, music, language, etc. - perfect, HOPE is the place for you!

The classes seem expensive, is there any scholarship support?

Our goal is to keep class costs DOWN while also valuing our tutors time and energy! That being said, we know that everyone has a different financial picture. HOPE will be offering fundraising opportunities as a group (more to come!). If your student/family participates in a fundraiser, you will receive a portion of the funds raised. There is no pressure to participate in fundraising opportunities because HOPE does not take a cut of the money raised - it will go directly to their family HOPE account balance to offset fees due. Another way your family can offset (and by that I mean PAY FOR :)) your fees is for a parent to step in and teach a class section. Ask our tutors from this year about the process and the pay!

Who are the tutors?

Tutors are parents or community members who are commited to facilitating a Christ-centered approach to learning! HOPE wants to lean on your strengths and allow others step in and be a resource for those subjects which we may lack confidence in our teaching abilities. As homeschoolers, we often have to prep mutiple subjects and learning environments, by taking this collaborative approach we help lift that burden by preparing one subject and allowing someone else to prepare and present another.

What is the benefit of being a tutor?

We are thrilled to say that our tutors are a paid position! Use this money to offset tuition costs at HOPE for your own student or as additional income to compensate your time. Tutors compensation depends on their class enrollment. Tutors receive a set amount per student enrolled in their class; tutors may also request an additional supply fee depending on the class. (I.E. Science classes with a lab will typically have a supply fee for experiments due to the nature of supplies needed for experiments) Tutors also received priority class registration for their students - a perk as some classes have already reached capacity during our first year!
