Welcome to Lake Michigan Home School Connection!

Established in 1999, Lake Michigan Home School Connection, Inc. (LMHSC) is a non-profit homeschool organization serving families along West Michigan’s lakeshore.

We are a distinctly Christian organization, while maintaining open membership to anyone who is willing to respect and participate within that distinction.

We’re a Cooperative—Everyone Pitches In!

Our co-op works because everyone contributes. This is not a drop-off program where families simply attend on Fridays. Each family is expected to contribute their time and energy to help make the co-op possible.

One parent from your family attends each Friday as an assistant, while also serving the co-op in some way. This might mean:

• Teaching a class

• Serving on our Set-Up or Clean-Up Teams

• Helping with a student group or other co-op responsibility

• Serving as a coordinator when opportunities are available

We know families have different strengths, interests, and seasons of life, so we don't expect everyone to serve in exactly the same way. What matters is that everyone finds a place to pitch in.

This shared responsibility is what makes our co-op possible—and it allows our own children and families to benefit from the time and effort everyone else contributes. All hands on deck is what makes LMHSC work!

If you're looking for a program where you can simply drop off your children or attend without taking on a role, we may not be the right fit. But if you're excited to be part of a community where families work together, we'd love to have you learn more about us.

Co-op Classes & Fees

Our regular co-op classes run in 10-week sessions. Family class fees are:

• 1 child: $35

• 2–4 children: $55

• 5+ children: $65

These fees cover your family's classes for the entire 10-week session, regardless of how many classes your children take. Some classes may also have an additional materials fee.

For example, a family with four children would pay $55 total for the session, plus any applicable class materials fees.

We do not accept state partnership monies.

What Does a Friday Look Like?

A typical co-op Friday includes time to connect with other families, announcements, three class hours, and time to tidy up and wrap up the morning.

Our current Friday schedule:

• 9:00 — Social time & check-in

• 9:15 — Announcements

• 9:30–10:30 — First hour

• 10:30–11:30 — Second hour

• 11:30–12:20 — Third hour

• 12:20–12:45 — Tidy Up & Sign-out

The exact schedule or class offerings may change from session to session, but the basic rhythm remains the same.

Ready to Join the Wait List?

Now is the time to join our wait list!

Because our co-op has grown significantly, we currently have more families interested in joining than available spaces. Please be aware that openings are limited, and families may remain on the wait list for a year or more before an opportunity to join becomes available. We encourage families who think LMHSC could be a good fit to join the wait list early.

At this stage, joining the wait list is simply a way to let us know that your family is interested in becoming part of LMHSC when an opening becomes available.

To join the wait list, click the Join button and complete the requested information. Please be prepared to provide:

• Your full name, including middle and maiden names

• All previous addresses

• The other information requested on the wait-list form

Joining the wait list does not guarantee a place in the co-op or make your family a member of LMHSC.

When an opening becomes available and your family reaches the appropriate place on the wait list, we will contact you with information about the next steps toward membership. At that time, we'll provide all the information you need about enrollment, fees, background checks, class registration, and getting started with the co-op.
