Classes at Atlanta Homeschool Co-op
AHC classes are a true community effort. Parents and children volunteer to set up and clean up the facilities, teach and assist classes, and tend to administration behind the scenes. Class day is "all hands on deck" as working together builds the relationships that are the foundation of our community.
Our larger group of classes are held at Eastside Community Church (468 Moreland Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30316). These classes focus on school aged children, so we ask that at least one child in each participating family be kindergarten age or older. A variety of classes for all school aged children and some classes for younger siblings are held on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 – 12:30. We generally have 50-70 children at this location.
A smaller group holds classes at Brownwood Park Recreation Center (602 Brownwood Ave SE, Atlanta, 30316), also on Wednesday mornings. Classes are offered for all school aged children and some classes are available for younger students. This location has classes from 10:00 – 12:30 and is ideal for families looking for a relaxed experience with more social time. We generally have 20- 35 children at this location.
All homeschool families are invited to join us for park day after classes at Brownwood Park. Generally a group stays to play from 12:30 – 2:30 or so. This is a great time to build on social skills and connect with families that may not be taking classes. Parkday plans vary when classes are not in session and are announced via our member forum. Non-members may inquire about Park Day by email.

All classes are taught by volunteers. Each family taking classes is expected to have one adult participating during classes. We ask each adult to fill 3 volunteer "spots" from the list below:
- Teach a class (counts as 2 spots)
- Assist in a class (1 spot)
- Monitor children outside between classes (1 spot)
- Set up or Clean up (1 spot)
AHC families are "hands-on". Everyone is expected to actively participate on class days.
Families, in which adults are not able to participate in our Wednesday classes program, please discuss your situation with the Registration Coordinator. In most cases, we are able to work with you so your child can be part of our program, so long as there is some adult responsible for your student(s). (see non-participation fee)
PLEASE NOTE: AHC is not a school and we do not issue grades. If you would like to include your child's classes on your homeschool transcripts that is up to you. If you would like input from the teacher about a grade, please consult directly with the teacher. But as an organization we do not issue grades or transcripts.
