Lisa Oberski To All Instructors
Instructor bio: Raised on a small family farm in central Minnesota, Lisa
Oberski was a first-generation college student. She has a Bachelor’s degree
in English Literature from Minnesota State University-Mankato and a Master’s
degree in Children’s Literature from Eastern Michigan University, where she
taught for a few years. A parent of two highly gifted children, Lisa first became
interested in gifted education after her children’s needs became evident. She
revived the dormant chapter of MCGT at Eastern Carver County schools in
the early 2000s, and volunteered in the schools, providing enrichment
opportunities for students. Lisa returned to school to earn an elementary
teaching degree so that she could guide other students to follow their
passions and build upon their gifts. She has taught gifted elementary
students at Eastern Carver County Schools, in the Navigator program at
Minnetonka Schools, and at Farmington Public Schools. In addition to
teaching, Lisa has volunteered for the Chaska Historical Society for 25 years,
and has served as the President of the organization for the last 10 years.
Relatively recently, Lisa has written for and edited a book on Chaska history
published in 2024. She is excited and delighted to return to gifted teaching as
a part of STAR Academy!
