Ms. Katherine Anderson To All Instructors

Katherine has been around science and laboratories all her life. Her home town, Livermore, CA, houses two national laboratories: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and Sandia National Laboratory (SNL California campus). Her after school job in high school was with an environmental chemist at LLNL and her summer job in college was with a chemist at SNL. After graduating from Carleton College with a degree in biology, Katherine was a lab tech for a year in an immunology professor's lab. She conducted experiments determining the effects of BPA on the immune system. The following year, Katherine entered medical school at the University of Minnesota. When Katherine's eldest child was born 5 months before graduation Katherine decided to finish medical school then stay home to concentrate on her family. As a consequence, Katherine's husband (who has a degree in chemistry) sometimes refers to her as a stay at home doctor.
