Cassandra Monson To All Instructors

Cassandra Monson-Nelson is a professional artist and a freelance art teacher. Cassandra has a BFA from the College of Visual Arts and many years of teaching experience. She teaches art classes all over the Twin Cities and facilitates community-based collaborative public art projects. Cassandra teaches kids to invest themselves in the creative process so that they will build a quality product. Cassandra combines quality art materials with recycling to enhance creative problem solving skills and promote environmental consciousness.

Cassandra shows her artwork on a regular basis at local galleries and community art spaces. She also participates in local art fairs and sells her work regularly in local art centers and art shops. This provides a rich opportunity for kids to learn from a working artist.

Cassandra's Overview Teaching Approach:
Cassandra loves teaching art and helping children create the art that lives in their imagination! All Cassandra's art programs are integrated with literature, language, history, and information about artists from all over the world. She has a fluid and flexible approach to teaching art. Each class begins with circle time, where children learn about the topic for that project and how to use fun new art materials. Cassandra sets aside most of the class time for making art at work tables or outside.
