Ovis Hill Farm

Homeschool Day

Friday, May 17, 2013

Ovis Hill Farm is a local sheep farm located in Timmonsville, SC. Our farm is home to hundreds of sheep, cows, and chickens. We also educate our community on the importance of farms in our society through our tour programs. Our tours focus on the agricultural basics of food and fiber production. We attract many school groups throughout the year, but we are always excited to offer a special day of tours for our homeschooling families and other small groups. While at the farm, students will have an opportunity to feed baby animals, make butter, and take a wagon ride. The wagon ride visits all the animals on the farm and stops for a sheep-herding demonstration with the farm’s Border collie, Joli. We are sure that our tours will be educational and fun for the whole family.

When: Friday, May 17, 2013

Time: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Cost: $6.00/person up to $24/family to be paid at the farm the day of your trip. We accept cash, debit or credit cards.

Optional Activities:

Gourd painting: Students can get their creativity flowing while painting their own birdhouse gourd that was grown on our farm. These gourds are perfect for hanging in the backyard and observing the wildlife that may choose the gourd as their home. ($5/person)

Wool bracelet making: This is the perfect opportunity for students to make and take home a small souvenir from their day on the farm. These bracelets are made with yarn spun from the wool of our sheep. ($1/person)

Please pre-register to participate in the tour and for these optional activities, which will be conducted at the end of the tour.

We have a covered picnic shelter if you desire to bring a picnic lunch. However, we will not have any other lunch food to sell. Please feel free to visit our farm store where you can find local meats, dairy products, bakery goods, and fresh vegetables.
