GRACE LIFE TEACHER AGREEMENT

Grace Life Homeschool Community is a Christian co-op, and although we welcome students of any faith or background, we want our classes to be taught from a Biblical perspective.

Please read our Statement of Faith, Family Statement, and Peacemaker Commitment. You will also need to read our Student Handbook. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at info@gracelifehomeschool.com

Statement of Faith

  • The Bible is the inspired, true Word of God.

    • 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness”

  • There is one God, who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    • “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matt 28:19)

  • God is love. He is perfect, holy, and just.

    • I John 4:8 says, “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

    • Lev 19:2 says, “You must be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.”

    • Psalm 37:28a tells us, “For the Lord loves justice.”

  • People were created in the image of God, to walk with him and have a close relationship with him. (Genesis 1:26).

  • When people chose to do the opposite of what God told us, sin poisoned the world. Sin separated us from God, and everything changed.

    • Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

    • In Isaiah 59:2 we’re told, “your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you so that he will not hear.”

  • This is especially bad news because there is no way for us to get back to God on our own. We have tried to find our way back to God and a perfect world on our own ever since then, and without any luck. We try to get there by being good people, or through religion, money, morality, philosophy, education, or any number of other ways, but eventually we find out that none of it works.

    • “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death” Proverbs 14:12.

  • There is only one way to find peace with God, and the Bible says it is through Jesus Christ. We were stranded without any way of getting back to our Creator, and we needed a way to pay for our sins and be clean again so that we could be welcomed back to be with Him. To be saved, we must put our faith in Jesus and in what He did on the cross.

    • Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” So this is the Good News—that even though we were still enemies of God (as one translation says), Jesus came to die on the cross and pay the price for our sins so that we could have a relationship with Him again.

    • John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

    • Romans 10:13 says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Family Statement

The family is the basic social and spiritual unit created by God. In it, the child learns about himself, social relationships, and God (Duet 6:6-8, Eph 6:1 and Col 3:20).

God designed each of us wonderfully, as male or female. Together, the two sexes reflect the image of God. To reject one's gender is to reject God's design. The Bible teaches that God’s design for marriage is between one man and one woman for life, and that sexual relationships should only occur in that context (1 Cor 6:18, Col 3:5, 1 Thes 4:3-4, Romans 18:1-32, Lev 18:22, 1 Cor 6:9).

As Christians, we are called to love everyone; however, love does not mean that we affirm things that are not in line with scripture or are harmful. The fact is that we all sin and fall short of God’s standard (Romans 3:23). This is why we need Jesus!

No matter what, we need to treat each person with love, dignity, and respect. There is no room for hateful behavior or talk in the body of Christ or at Grace Life.

Peacemaker Commitment

As Christians, we believe that we are called to respond to conflict in a way that is remarkably different from the way the world deals with conflict. We also believe that conflict provides opportunities to glorify God, serve other people, and grow to be like Christ.

  • I will go directly to someone if I have a problem with them or it looks like there is a problem between our children that they are unable to handle on their own. Instead of pretending that conflict doesn't exist or talking about others behind their backs, I will choose to overlook minor offenses, or I will talk directly and graciously with the person who has offended or hurt me.  When a conflict with another cannot be resolved between the two of us in private, together we will approach someone in co-op leadership to help us settle the matter in a biblical manner. I will extend grace and forgiveness to someone who offends me and not hold a grudge (Eph. 4:31-22, Col 3:13, Rom 12:17-21).

  • Matthew 18:15-16 “If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses.”
