Outdoor Hour- Winter Twig Study#1000HoursOutside
Nature study is getting an update for the new year. I am hoping to create more of a Charlotte Mason-style study. A good resource for parents to follow along is the Handbook of Nature Study. To start with I recommend parents read pages 1-8. This is not required and is meant for parents to read to themselves.
For this study, we will be looking at Winter Twigs. It is recommended that parents read the Tree Study section starting on page 623 in the Handbook of Nature Study (Lesson 172). Pay special attention to #3 in the section on Winter Work. Take note of the lesson’s observation suggestions to keep during your nature study of winter twigs.
Nature classes consist of a lesson, possibly a craft activity, a nature walk, and time at the playground after. This event is open to members and non-members. Meet at the parking lot next to the pool.
Suggested items to bring: A notebook to use as a nature book, drawing or painting supplies, a magnifying glass, and water bottles.
