FAQs

Q:

What is ConnectED?

A:

ConnectED is a Northern Utah homeschool co-op for grades 5-12 secondary students.

Q:

How often do you meet?

A:

Each class is only one day a week, on Thursdays. Students can sign up for as many or as few classes as they want. Depending on your classes, there may also be at-home work.

Q:

When during the 2023/2024 year will this co-op run?

A:

The Co-op starts the week of August 21 and will go on until the week of April 29.  You can see the yearly schedule here

Q:

When does the 2024/2025 class registration open?

A:

Registration for returning families will open on April 22nd and for the general homeschool community on April 25th.

Q:

When will the 2024/2024 courses be posted?

A:

The 2024/2025 classes will be announced on April 15, 2024.  Registration for the general public will open on April 25th.

Q:

Does this co-op espouse any one specific religion or worldview?

A:

No, we do not. We believe in quality education for everyone and wish to take the best from all our fellow homeschool families have to offer. We want this co-op to be a place of community and belonging where everyone feels safe, seen, and heard. We strongly emphasize kindness and respect for all people, no matter our differences, and choose to build on the things we have in common and learn from one another.

Q:

Does it cost to participate?

A:

ConnectED is a tuition-based co-op where families pay by class to attend. We all look for three things in outside programming: convenience, quality, and low cost. Nothing can offer all three of these. We focus on quality and convenience and only charge what we have to run. As we are a 501(c)(3) (official non-profit status), our aim is not to make money but rather to use the funds we collect to service our families best. Please see our Tuition page for more information.

Q:

Does a parent have to volunteer?

A:

ConnectEd was created as a drop-off/pick-up program for the convenience of our families. However, ConnectED is a nonprofit Co-op that depends on volunteers to fill Board and other operating positions. Beginning in 2024/2025, all families must contribute two hours per academic year. We have many volunteer positions available for parents to choose from. A list of volunteer options will be released in August 2024.

Q:

Do you accept funds through My Tech High, HarmonyEd, LAU, Utah Fits All, or other similar programs?

A:

Yes. We are approved 3rd party vendors for My Tech High and Harmony ED. Please see our tuition page here for information specific to each of these vendors.

Q:

Do you offer core classes or support?

A:

We have a variety of elective and core classes. Our 2024/2025 classes will be announced on April 15th.

Q:

Can I come with my younger children and stay while my older kids are in classes?

A:

Yes! One of the reasons ConnectED was created was to foster community and belonging among local homeschool families. We will have a study hall area where parents can visit with each other, homeschool younger children, or where enrolled students can study or socialize during free periods.

Q:

Is ConnectED affiliated with any state charters?

A:

No, we are not. We are a private entity that does not affiliate with any state programs. This allows us to focus on what we (the families) feel is best for our students and makes it so we do not have to comply with any state testing or regulations.

Q:

Can my child with disabilities attend?

A:

We accept students of all ability levels, and no one will ever be turned away based on disability. Depending on how much help your student needs to participate in class successfully, we may ask you to stay. Please reach out to our director to discuss your student’s specific needs so we can make a plan to best support you.

Q:

Who are your teachers, do you pay your teachers, and how can I apply to teach?

A:

Our teachers range from community professionals who are experts in their field to fellow homeschool moms with years of experience teaching these subjects. We strongly believe that certifications or licenses aren’t what make qualified teachers. Passion, knowledge, and a love of students and learning make the best teachers! We pay our teachers for their time in class.

If you are interested in teaching, please send an email to director@connectedco-op.com.

Q:

Where is ConnectED located?

A:

Rosewood Lane Church of the Nazarene in Layton for the entire school day.
