USAHEC has updated their programs with costumed living history demonstrations. These programs will
- Cultivate a sense of civic responsibility within students by expanding an understanding of the civilian-military relationship that continues to exist between American citizens and their Armed Forces.
- Inspire within students a sense of understanding and connection between professions in the historical U.S. Army and current job/career specialties that exist in today’s Army.
- Emphasize how the subjects of History, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and the Arts are access points for developing and fostering student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking skills within the context of the U.S. Army, both past and present..
There will be a total of five stations which that the students will rotate through with an hour at the end for some self-guided exploration and gift shop time.
(Our group will be split into 5 groups with 7th-12th graders being placed in 1 or 2 groups with a parent chaperone. We will try to keep students 6th grade and younger together with their families.)
We have reserved a pavilion for our group to eat lunch from 11:45a – 12:15p. Please keep in mind that it is recommended for the students to keep their lunches covered in coolers or backpacks as the crows will otherwise tear up brown paper bags. Trash bags are provided in the pavilion area trash containers however they do ask that before leaving, our group disposes of the bags in the nearby dumpster and puts in new bags from the extras inside the individual waste containers.
The students can get personalized “dog tags” as a souvenir from the gift shop for a small fee but these MUST be ordered in advance through our museum store m at museumstoremgr@armyheritage.org.
