WHAT WE OFFER
We aim to create a supportive community that bolsters families during their homeschooling adventure. We offer a rich and diverse selection of opportunities to meet our families' needs.

COMMUNITY DAY
Please note that our Explorers classes are full for the 2025/2026 School Year. However, please reach out as we may be able to add your family to our waitlist. Explorers 1 & 2 (K-5th) The Grammar stage is focused on laying foundational knowledge in all areas of study. Our elementary-age program uses Claritas Publishing's Memory Work Guide to focus on memory work. Each week, students learn New Grammar (memory work) in nine subjects: scripture, hymns, English grammar, Latin, science, history, geography, mathematics, and Timeline. Students also deliver a 2-3 minute presentation, play memory work review games, complete science demonstrations or experiments, and weekly history projects. In their art class, they will create weekly art pieces, learn the basic principles of drawing and painting, and learn about different artists of the period. In the afternoon, our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders meet for grammar and IEW.

Pathfinders (6th-8th) The Logic stage takes the foundational knowledge gained in the Grammar stage and expounds on it. Our middle school students have classes in six subjects: Geography, Science, Christian Studies, History, Latin, Literature, and Composition. While there is still an element of memorization, instruction is tailored to the emerging desire of students in this stage to argue and begin asking difficult questions about their world. Analysis and critical reasoning are the chief mental acts of this stage. Developmentally, students in the logic stage learn best through debate and discussion.

Summiteers (9th-12th) Students in the Rhetoric stage marry the foundational knowledge gained in the grammar stage with the analytical skills of the logic stage and begin producing and defending his/her own ideas. Thesis defense and eloquent written and oral communication are the hallmarks of the rhetoric stage. Our high school program offers classes in Literature and Composition, Christian Studies, Latin, History, Logic, and Science.

EXPECTATIONS OF STUDENTS

Explorer students are expected to be enrolled in 100% of the classes offered for their level.

Pathfinder students are encouraged to participate in all classes offered; however, if the need arrises, we will allow students to opt out of no more than two classes, with the approval of the leadership team.

Summiteer students can enroll in selected classes on a case-by-case basis, with the approval of the leadership team.

FIELD TRIPS
Field trips are organized and coordinated by parent volunteers. In the past, students have visited the Nevada State Museum, watched the partial eclipse at the UNR Planetarium, and visited Taylor Creek for the salmon spawn.

SPECIAL COMMUNITY DAY EVENTS
To keep things fun on Community Day, we often celebrate various holidays throughout the year, including Christmas and Valentine's Day.

SOCIAL GATHERINGS
Families often get together for lunch or playdates outside of Community Day. We also plan a Mom's Christmas Party.
