Tutoring Assignments

Parent participation as a class tutor is imperative to a smooth and healthy community day. We want all of our tutors to be excited and prepared for their classes and for our students. In order to make that possible we strive to keep class loads reasonable for each tutoring parent. The time and work necessary to prepare adequately for our community days increases as students get older and classes become more rigorous. Naturally, a high school biology class with labs to prep for is more time-consuming than one of our Explorer’s memory work classes. The Leadership team will help to place you in a tutoring role in one of your children’s classes, that best fits your talents and interests. Tutor mentoring is provided prior to the start of fall semester, and throughout the school year.

Tutoring positions for the current school year are still available. Once your registration is approved, we will review your tutor/serving preferences and match you accordingly. Please note, we may ask you to tutor/serve in a difference capacity if the need arrises.

*To be eligible as a tutor we require that you are able to agree with and sign our doctrinal statement of faith. This assures that we are able to provide a quality Christian education that aligns with our mission as a co-op.

Non-Tutoring Assignments

Because we are a cooperative group, each family is required to be contributing to the community in some way. Below is a list of some non-tutoring responsibilities associated with making community day happen week in and week out.

  • Set up (before class)

  • Clean up (at the end of the day)

  • Afternoon play-time facilitator (to assist with afternoon classes for our Explorers with older siblings)

  • Fellowship and field trip coordinator

  • Science Fair Judge (this is a one-day commitment, usually a Saturday, in February or March)
