Do you offer a discount for additional children?

A:

Yes! We offer a discounts. The first child is full price with additional children at a reduced rate. 
Tuition prices for our current session are found HERE. 

Q:

What days and times do you meet?

A:

Farm school meets on Mondays and Tuesdays. Drop off is 8:45-9:00am. 

Classes and activites are from 9am to 3:00pm 

Pickup is 2:45-3:00pm.

Please don’t be late! Teachers have much too do to clean up and prepare for our next farmschool day, and Stone Garden Farm often has afternoon activities and events to get ready for also.

You and your family are welcome to look around the farm with your kids at pickup time, but we respectfully ask for you to plan to depart by 3:30 for above-mentioned reasons.

Do you have a refund policy?

A:

Roots &Shoots operating and infrastructure costs are determined by the beginning of each session. Those expenses are based on the number of children committed to attend. Once determined, those costs will not decrease due to an individual student's failure to attend once a session has started.  By agreeing to send your child to Roots & Shoots, you are commiting to pay full tuition. In order to ensure the school is a proper fit for your child, a five day grace period for refunds will be considered once school has begun.

What is your illness policy?

A:

Illness Weunderstand that some runny noses are sneezes are inevitable. Here is the at-home checklist for you to determine if it is safe to bring your child(ren) to the farm each day.

Please keep your child home if he/she has:

  • Fever over 100 degrees
  • Green mucus
  • Persistent wet cough
  • Vomiting within 24 hours
  • Chills

What should I do if we will be absent?

How many students and teachers are part of the Roots & Shoots program?

A:

Roots & Shoots Farmschool program is made up of roughly 40 kids. There are 2 teachers with Beansprouts (5-6 year olds) and Thistles (ages 7-9). The Willows (ages 10-13) have one teacher. 

Kids are always supervised!

What teaching style do you use at Roots & Shoots?

A:

Roots & Shoots incorporates Waldorf style teaching into the learning experience. Mornings are filled with artistic creation & academic learning. We will  math & language arts (poetry, recitation, creative writing etc) encompassed in engaging unit studies. Our Waldorf philosophy includes songs from many cultures, stories, dances and poems form around the world.

What is your electronics policy?

A:

Students may not bring a cellphone to farmschool.

Important Reminders

Q:

These are the every day policies and expectations for children coming to Farm School.

A:

  • Please send your child(ren) with a water bottle labelled with their name. Dress them in weather appropriate gear as we will spend a lot of time outdoors- sun hat on sunny days, mud boots on muddydays, etc.
  • Students bring their own lunches. We will provide water when needed.
  • Backpacks are optional, but are a good way to store extra clothes &projects your child brings home. Kids 5 and under are required to bring a backpack labelled with their name with a full change of clothing.
  • During our farm kitchen crew periods, your kids will be preparing healthy snacks such as herbal teas, dried fruit, apple sauce, homemade breads, fresh veggies from the garden etc. We always have gluten & dairy free options. Snacktime is about 15 minutes before afternoon pickup
  • No electronics (including phones), candy or personal toys are allowed unless you are asked to bring them for a certain project (show and tell, etc) or previous permission has been given.
  • Each week, we will send out an Email of how our week looked. It will include some content of the classes, highlights of the week and photographs of your children. **If you prefer not to have your child(ren) photographed, or would prefer for your child’s pictures not be used for advertising purposes, please let us know.
