FAQs

Q:

How do I join Rooted Oaks?

A:

To join Rooted Oaks, you must first apply. Once your application is approved, you will be eligible to register for classes.

Please see more information about our application process and fee structure here, and you can fill out the application here.

Q:

Why do I have to join Home For His Glory too?

A:

Rooted Oaks Co-op operates under the greater umbrella of the Home For His Glory (HFHG) organization.

HFHG is a long-standing ministry to the Kentuckiana homeschool community. As a member of HFHG, you can participate in the various co-op programs they offer (including Rooted Oaks), as well as other special events throughout the year that HFHG runs.

HFHG's goal is to provide valuable resources for the homeschool community and bring the community closer together through the opportunities and events they offer.

Q:

Why is Rooted Oaks in the evening?

A:

Evening classes allow our families to continue to enjoy their regular learning and family life during the day without interruption. It also works with our teen students' natural rhythms as they start to enjoy staying up later and sleeping in. When we polled interested families for our co-op, the majority of families desired an evening option.

Q:

How do I register my student for classes?

A:

Once you have applied to Rooted Oaks and are approved, you will be eligible to register for classes online by logging into your account.

To register online, you can log into your account and navigate to the class registration page. From there, click on the class you'd like to register your child in. Once the class details expand, you will check the box for the student you want to register; eligible students will be listed under the class fees section. Once you check the student(s) you want to register for that specific class, simply click the register button. Continue the same process for each student for each class block option. Please note that each student will only be able to register for one class during each of the class block options.

Initial payments are required to be made by cash or check within 10 days of registering. You can do this by mailing or hand-delivering a check. Address options will be shared after we receive your registration request. See more about our fee structure and payments here.

Q:

When do I pay for my student's classes?

A:

After registering online for classes, you are required to submit your initial payments within 10 days of registering. You can do this by mailing or hand-delivering a check. Address options will be shared after we receive your registration request.

Remaining fall class registration fees will be due by August 18th.

Spring class registration fees will be due by January 5th.

Please see the detailed fees and payment schedules here.

Q:

Why do Support Families have reduced fees?

A:

Support Families commit to giving of their time throughout the year to help our co-op function and flourish while also allowing us to keep our co-op affordable. To learn more about what Support Families do or how you can become a Support Family, see our What is a Support Family? page.

Q:

Do you offer any fundraising opportunities?

A:

Yes! We will be offering opportunities for students to fundraise money that will be applied to their spring class registration fees. We will share more about these opportunities at Orientation.

Q:

Why are there only 2 class blocks? Will you be offering more class blocks in the future?

A:

As a new co-op, we didn't want to add too many class blocks too quickly. We hope to grow and add more options in the future.

Q:

Will there be any breaks in between classes?

A:

Yes, there is a 30-minute break in between the 2 class blocks. Students will go to The Grove for fellowship with other students, grab something to eat, and prepare to transition into the next class. Students have access to a kitchen for storing food in the fridge or utilizing the microwave. When the weather permits, students have the option to enjoy more physical activities or fresh air in the back field. The break time is supervised.

Q:

What safety protocols do you have in place?

A:

All adults who are in direct contact with students will be required to have a background check on file. The forms will be completed at Open House or Orientation. Additionally, we require at least 2 adults to be present with students at all times. All other safety and emergency protocols will be reviewed at Orientation.

Q:

What does a Monday night look like?

A:

Students can begin arriving at 5:10 pm and gather in The Grove. Their first class is from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm, followed by a 30-minute break, and then their second class block is from 7:15 pm to 8:30 pm. We will work together to clean the church, and then dismissal starts at 8:45 pm. All students are required to be picked up by 9:00 pm.

Q:

Why do you only have full year classes available?

A:

We are open to having classes by semester in the future. However, as a new co-op, the Lord brought us teachers who were willing to teach classes for a full year. This simplifies the process for us this first year, but we hope to have additional options for families in the future.
