What is Clarksville Homeschool Collective (CHC)?

A:

CHC is a homeschool community that offers opportunities for connection, field trips, events, programs, and educational experiences for local homeschooling families.

Q:

Is CHC religious?

A:

CHC welcomes families from all backgrounds. While board members may have personal beliefs, CHC itself is not a faith-based organization.

Q:

How do I join CHC?

A:

Create an account through Homeschool-Life and complete any required membership steps.

Q:

Do I have to be a member to participate?

A:

Membership is required to participate in CHC field trips and programs.

Q:

Is joining the Facebook group the same as becoming a member?

A:

No. The Facebook group is for communication and community, but registration and participation happen through Homeschool-Life.

Membership & Fees

Q:

Why is there a membership fee?

A:

Membership fees help support the platform, administration, insurance and growth of programs and events. 

Q:

Do you offer fee assistance?

A:

Yes. We plan to help as many families as possible through the assistance application process as funding allows.

Q:

If I join later in the year, do I still have to pay the membership fee?

A:

Yes. Membership fees apply regardless of when a famiy joins during the membership year.

Q:

Are membership fees refundable?

A:

No. Membership fees are non-refundable.

Events & Field Trips

Q:

How do I register for events?

A:

Visit the Events tab in Homeschool-Life and register directly through the event listing. 

Q:

Are events first come, first served?

A:

Some events have limited spots and may fill quickly.

Q:

When is payment due for field trips?

A:

Payment deadines are listed on each event page.

Q:

Can I cancel after registering?

A:

Yes, cancellations are allowed up until the registration deadline. After the deadline and once payment has been made, refunds are not issued; however, in most cases, families may transfer or sell their spot to another CHC family when applicable. Please contact the CHC team for assistance with transfers.

Can siblings attend?

A:

Check each event listing for age requirements and guest policies.

Q:

Do parents need to attend and stay for field trips?

A:

Parents are responsible for supervising their children unless otherwise stated.

Can I suggest a field trip location?

A:

Yes! Submit your suggestions through the Field Trip Request Form.

Communication

Q:

Where do I find announcements?

A:

Announcements are posted in Homeschool-Life and shared through CHC communication channels.

Q:

What if I miss a live or meeting?

A:

Meeting notes and updates will be shared afterward whenever available.

Who do I contact with questions?

A:

Contact the board or admin team through the listed communication channels. 

Safety & Policies

Q:

Why does CHC carry insurance?

A:

As a nonprofit hosting events and developing programming, insurance helps protect the organization, volunteers, and participating families. Some venues also require proof of insurance. 

Q:

Are background checks required?

A:

No, background checks are not required for general CHC membership or participation in events. However, background checks will be required for families and volunteers involved in the co-op or serving in designated leadership/teaching roles within co-op programs.

What behavior is expected at events?

A:

Families are expected to treat others respectfully and follow event guidelines.

Fundraising

Q:

Do I have to participate in fundraisers?

A:

No. Fundraising participation is optional.

Q:

Where do fundraiser proceeds go?

A:

Funds support CHC programs, events, and family opportunities.
