Geology class
In this hands-on study of rocks and minerals, students sort and classify specimens according to simple characteristics. We explore the rock cycle, identify common rocks and their uses, and learn about Western North Carolina’s mineral contributions to the global economy.
Weather & Climate class
Learn to measure and describe weather and understand its cause. Hands-on demonstrations show temperature and wind cycles working locally and globally. Explore climate change by experimenting with effects of carbon dioxide on pH.
Scavenger hunt
We love kids here at CESM! Our museum features hands-on exhibits and scavenger hunts to help guide youngsters through the museum (and get a prize if you can find all the answers!).
