SWGHA is one of the oldest and largest homeschool organizations in Southwest Georgia. Founded in 1990, the association grew out of a close-knit community of homeschooling families who had spent years gathering together for playdates, social activities, and mutual support. As homeschooling continued to grow in the region, these families joined together to form an organized group dedicated to encouraging and serving homeschool families throughout Southwest Georgia.

Over the years, SWGHA has become a multigenerational community. In fact, some of the moms involved in the group today once participated as children themselves, a reflection of the lasting friendships, support, and sense of community that SWGHA has fostered for decades.
