Introducing... Arrow Homeschool Co-op Band

We are so excited to announce that we will be having a Homeschool Co-op Band this year!

Here are some of the deets:

When: Starting the Monday after Labor Day, Band will meet every Monday afternoon/early evening from 3:30 - 4:45 pm. It will run through the fall and have a Christmas Concert in December. Picking up again for a NEW semester, band will begin again in January and go through the spring ending with a Spring Concert in May. True to Arrow's typical customization, registration goes by SEMESTER, not by year.

Where: We will be meeting in central Nampa.

What Ages: The Band will be for ages 9 and up or by special permission (for youngers).

How Much: YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF OR PAY FOR OUR THURSDAY CLASSES TO PARTAKE IN BAND. Also, typical of Arrow, the fee for your children will be all inclusive for your entire family, regardless of how many sons, daughters, fish, diapers or dogs you have! It will be $100 per family, per semester. This fee includes, all lessons, all weeks, all concerts and all children. Other costs include: a band book (under $20) and a music stand (co-op may be purchasing these to loan out for semester). In addition, you will need to purchase, rent, borrow or negotiate/obtain your instrument for each child. Information about rental will be at the band night in August.  *Fee will be reduced for a discounted joint rate if you choose to attend both the choir and the band. ($75 for Choir, $100 for Band or $150 for both!)

Who: The band will be led by experienced musicians who are Christian, musically educated, experienced teachers and have a heart for children and music!

What:   These are the instruments that are encouraged:

  • Flute
  • Clarinet
  • Baritone
  • Alto Saxophone
  • Trumpet
  • Trombone

These instruments are allowed by special request only:

  • Percussion
  • French Horn
  • Oboe
  • Tuba
  • Violin

(Before you obtain any instruments, be aware there are vast differences in quality and brands. Please do not waste your money before you know which ones are recommended!)

How do I pick an instrument? Dunkley Music will be hosting a "Come Learn about Instruments" night where the children can hold, try, practice, ask questions about and determine what will be the best and most fun instrument for them. This will be Monday, August 13th @ 7pm in Nampa. Once you Register, you will get more information about this evening. If you are simply considering, you will also be able to attend, join in on the fun and see if this will be a good fit for you!

Can I drop off my kids? If you are interested in dropping off your children at Choir and/or Band and coming back later to pick them up, you will have to have an on-site guardian there to "supervise" your children. These guardians could include: grandparents, neighbors, friends or other. Be sure and indicate if you are interested in this option somewhere on your registration form.
