DIBS and Parent Helpers Details, Public Info

Minimal Volunteering enables Wings to offer a safe and welcome Drop Off option to Christian Homeschoolers in the general area!  Read on to learn more.

Not able to volunteer?  We are utilizing a DIBS style option and it includes a "buy out option" where you can pay for someone else to take your volunteer spots.

Wings Classroom Helper Parents are so vital to a successful classroom experience for the Wings children!

Please do not be late - we rely on parent helpers as a measure of safety as well as ensuring our group is respectful of the property and each other.

On the day you serve, please arrive early as instructed, to sign in your child/ren quickly and (if classroom helper) pickup the parent volunteer clipboard which you will take with you from class to class.  You can drop off your own kids in their classes at 12:50, please keep them near you until then.

HOW TO BE A PARENT HELPER:

  • Pass out the name tags and take attendance utilizing the nametags.  Follow the class to each classroom throughout the 3 hours, managing hallway movement as well as classroom assistance.  Students must follow all rules, especially remaining quiet and calm in hallways at all times.  Please introduce yourself to each tutor, and remain with the students at all times.
  • Parent Classroom Helpers stay with the class for all three hours. Here's instructions for how to help in each, not in a particular order:

ART:  Assist Sandy Adler in distributing, organizing, and ensuring that we don't have any spills or major messes that end up on the church's carpeting.  Remain attentive throughout class.  Follow tutor for guidance, be involved.

STEM (science) class:  Assist Kim McDermid in distributing, organizing, whatever may be needed in this dynamic class.  Please remain attentive throughout the class time. Follow tutor for guidance, be involved and/or ready throughout class.

PHY-ED:  Assist Shayna Boyle mainly in all those little things that pop up, such as escorting to the bathroom area, finding a bandaid, looking at the students' footwear during their first hour and having the Coordinator (Gail Gray) contact a parent to bring tennis shoes if any in the class you are helping with have forgotten...

After Wings, please help with classroom cleanup and pickup your children by 4:05 at the latest.

If you have questions, please contact Gail Gray at Volunteers4Wings@gmail.com or in person at Wings when we meet.

LAST MINUTE ISSUES - - IF YOU REALIZE SOMEONE IS SICK IN YOUR FAMILY, OR OTHER REASON YOU CAN'T MAKE IT FOR YOUR VOLUNTEER TIME, IF ON A WINGS DATE YOU MUST TEXT GAIL RIGHT AWAY.  ALSO, SEND OUT AN EMAIL TO ALL VIA THE FORUM IF YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR SLOT, WHETHER IMMEDIATE NEED OR FUTURE DATE, RATHER THAN JUST REMOVING YOUR NAME.  SWAPPING IS GREAT, TOO!

Thank you for serving in the classroom this year!
