Q:

Do I have to teach?

A:

This is truly a cooperative effort in that every family will play an important role in the success of this learning venture.  It is therefore expected that there will be parental involvement from each family participating in the co-op, either by teaching, assisting, or helping in some other area!

Q:

Is there a minimum age for my children?

A:

Yes.  Children must be in Kindergarten to enroll (must be 5 by Compass cut off date by October 15).

We do have classes for younger siblings. However, nursery and preschool classes are ONLY for those who have an older sibling in the co-op.

Q:

Can I drop my child off at Compass and run errands while class is in session?

A:

No. Parents must remain at Compass with their children at all times and must help where needed. However, exceptions can be made for extenuating circumstances, which will need to be approved by the Leadership Team.

A:

For the elective/enrichment classes, the teachers may give optional outside assignments that will not affect the student's participation in the class.  Core class teachers may assign homework at the teacher’s discretion.

Q:

Do you take grades?

A:

Compass does not keep or record grades.  If a teacher assigns something, she may grade it, but will then give it back to you to keep record of.

A:

Dress code for Mondays and any field trips includes a Compass t-shirt. Shorts/skirts/dresses must be fingertip length.  Undergarments must not be seen at any time.  Shorts/pants and tennis shoes are preferred on Mondays because of activities performed during large group time.
