The Discovery Squad

The Discovery Squad field trip group offers a dynamic opportunity for students to explore, discover, and connect their homeschool learning to the real world. Organized throughout the year (at least once a month during the school year), our Discovery Squad outings span a variety of educational, cultural, and service-oriented experiences to delve into the subjects of history, art, science, math, food, and career exploration—often guided by experts or professionals in the field. Our trips aim to deepen understanding, build friendships, and encourage Christ-like curiosity and engagement with the world around us.

Examples of Past Field Trips:

• Fort Indiantown Gap National Guard Training Center: Explored helicopters, simulator, and more.
• Harrisburg Capitol Tour: Met state reps and learned about state government.
• Independence Hall & Liberty Bell: Historic Philadelphia tour.
• Blessings of Hope & UNTO: Packed groceries and humanitarian items.
• Historic Reenactments: Daniel Boone, Gettysburg, Hay Creek Festival, Hertitage Days and more.
• Local Fire Station Tours: Fire safety education and station visits.
• Museums: Science, history, and transportation museums.
• Factory & Theater Tours: Snack factory, pretzel bakery, Fulton Theatre tour.
• Sports Tours: Philadelphia Phillies Stadium tour. 
• Career Based Tours: New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company.

Forest School 

Forest School is a Christ-centered time of connection, discovery, and fellowship — for kids and moms! It’s a chance to get the wiggles out, make friends, and enjoy God's beautiful creation together. Through guided hikes, hands-on projects, and environmental lessons, students grow in confidence, curiosity, and appreciation for the world God made. We encourage kids to get messy, be free, explore, and build one another up as they learn. It’s not just about science and nature — it’s about blending God's Word, stewardship, and joyful play in the great outdoors. Moms also get to connect and build lasting Christian friendships that support each other's unique journey while watching their kids identify plants, clouds, amphibians — and maybe even try to bring home minnows (ask me how I know!).

We meet Fridays mornings about once or twice a month at various parks and nature centers. At the end of each month, you’ll receive a schedule of the next month’s hikes and activities. 

Come join us as we grow, learn, and delight in God’s creation together!

Examples of Forest School Activities:

• Nature Hikes: Wildlife observation and trail exploration at local parks.
• Wildlife & Gardens: Visits to gardens and sanctuaries for hands-on learning.
• Lancaster County Parks Programs: Naturalist-led science activities at the Nature Center.

Clubs

Come Connect, Explore & Grow Together!

Our new Clubs group is a Christ-centered opportunity for kids and moms to connect, discover shared interests, and build meaningful friendships. Clubs are designed to give students a chance to get to know one another in an environment that encourages leadership, creativity, curiosity, and fellowship.

Through guided gatherings, hands-on projects, activities, and discussions around shared interests, students will have opportunities to take initiative, practice leadership skills, and build one another up. We encourage kids to get messy, be creative, explore, try new things, and delight in the world God has made.

And it’s not just for the kids! Moms are an important part of Clubs too. As our children build friendships and learn to work together, moms have opportunities to connect, encourage one another, and develop lasting Christian friendships as we support each other on our unique homeschooling journeys.

We meet Monday afternoons for a six week session in Ephrata. When you sign up for a specific club, you’ll receive a schedule of the next session’s schedule.

What Kind of Club Would You Enjoy?

Clubs will be shaped around the interests and ideas of the students and families who participate. Some possibilities include:

• Art Club — Explore different art forms, experiment with creative techniques, and enjoy making art together.
• Board Games Club — Enjoy classic and new games while developing strategy, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
• Chess Club — Learn, practice, and enjoy the challenge of chess while developing critical thinking and strategy.
• Knitting Club — Learn new skills, work on creative projects, and enjoy fellowship while making something you can be proud of.
• Theater Club — Explore acting, storytelling, creativity, and teamwork through drama and performance.
• Robotics Club — Build, experiment, problem-solve, and discover the fun of robotics and engineering.
• Book Club — Read, discuss, and explore great books together while sharing ideas and encouraging one another.

These are just possibilities! Have another interest or idea? Bring it with you to one of our open clubs meets! Clubs are a place for students and moms to share their interests and help create opportunities for others to enjoy them too.

A Cooperative Community

Clubs are part of our co-operative homeschool community, which means they work best when families are willing to contribute and serve alongside one another. Parents are asked to help with the clubs and participate as needed, according to the needs of the particular club or activity. Your involvement helps make it possible for us to offer a variety of clubs while keeping the focus on serving one another and creating a welcoming environment for everyone.

Clubs also work best when we commit to showing up, participating, and investing in one another. We ask families who join a club to commit to participating in at least one full six-week session.
