Board of Directors

2026-2027

Building Something Better — Together

Our Board is made up of volunteers who serve for set terms. These positions are voted on by all enrolled families annually as terms expire.

Lucy (she/her)

Board Chair
FAA, ATCS | BA, Management | MA, Education

Lucy brings a rare blend of leadership, grit, and heart to her work. A former U.S. Marine and certified Air Traffic Controller, she also has a BA in Management and MA in Education. Her background spans military service, veteran advocacy, public education, and classroom teaching.

Motivated by a deep frustration with school systems that didn’t serve all children, Lucy helped found CLC to build something better. She’s a full-time Navy spouse, mom of five, proud Slytherin, hockey fan, and AuDHD champion. She firmly believes in the power of experiential learning and that every person has something to teach us.

Kacy (she/her)

Programs Director
BS, Biology | BA, French | BSN, RN

Kacy is a registered nurse and dedicated homeschooler with a deep love of learning. She holds degrees in biology, French, and nursing, and has served medically fragile newborns in the NICU. As a Navy spouse, she’s helped lead co-ops in Japan, California, and Virginia — always building community wherever she lands.

She’s passionate about education, reproductive and women’s health, and creating curiosity-driven programming for all learners. She also makes an excellent cup of coffee and can conjugate irregular French verbs under pressure.

Brandi (she/her)

Treasurer

TBD

Melissa (she/her)

Secretary

Melissa has been homeschooling for over 12 years and is passionate about fostering a supportive, engaging learning community for families. She brings strong organizational skills and a collaborative spirit to the Board, helping ensure clear communication and smooth coordination within the co-op.

Ceri (she/they)

Community Development
BA, Business Administration | MA, Business Communications

Ceri is a longtime homeschooling parent and business communications expert with a heart for equity and access. They’ve held executive and liaison roles in homeschooling groups, supported dozens of nonprofits, and helped to launch an LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent-affirming speech therapy practice in Chesapeake.

Now working as a consultant, Ceri helps organizations build inclusive structures and amplify marginalized voices. They're currently heading back to school to become an art therapist — and they’ve never met a spreadsheet they didn’t want to reformat, color-code, and turn into a community-wide resource… with glitter.
