Meet the Founders
Becoming Homeschool Collective was founded by two homeschool moms with a shared vision.
What began as a simple desire for connection has grown into something more, something we believe the Lord is building, piece by piece, through each family who walks through the doors.
Deanna Gillis is the co-owner and co-founder of Becoming Homeschool Collective. She holds a Bachelor's in Psychology and Master's in Education Teaching and Learning with a specialization in Early Childhood Education. Deanna has a heart for creating intentional spaces where families feel supported and children can grow into who God created them to be.
She works closely with families, leading communication, coordination, and the day-to-day flow of the program. From scheduling and class planning to supporting families throughout the semester, she helps ensure the experience is smooth, intentional, and rooted in the mission and heart of the community. Her role is focused on creating a strong, steady foundation that supports both families and the broader vision of the collective.
Deanna is a homeschool mama of four beautiful children and married to her senior year prom date, Elisha. She enjoys deep meaningful conversation, homemaking, writing, sipping a cup of tea while reading a good book, and exploring nature. She is very much an introvert and homebody, despite her role in the homeschool community.
Adrian Handwork is the co-owner and co-founder of Becoming Homeschool Collective. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and brings a unique blend of creativity and vision to the Collective, shaping experiences that are both meaningful and engaging for families.
Adrian oversees social media, marketing, and community partnerships. Through this, she expands the reach of Becoming Homeschool Collective while building authentic, lasting connections beyond the classroom.
Adrian is married to Erik, and they homeschool their four beautiful children. She finds joy in creating DIY decorations for family celebrations, hosting, crafting, fashion, and traveling with her family.
"Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." — Hebrews 10:24–25
