What do we offer?
2020/2021 School Year
HSLDA Discount: CHC is a Homeschool Legal Defense Association discount group. Members can receive $15 off their annual HSLDA membership.
Fall Kickoff Picnic: Unfortunately, we won’t be able to host our annual Fall Picnic due to covid restrictions, but watch for updates on an Ice Cream Social in the park coming in August. Bring your lawn chairs and CHC will provide prepackaged ice cream bars. We will be following social distance guidelines and keeping our event to 50 people or less.
Pizza Picnic in the Park: In September we hope to be able to host a fall pizza picnic at Hessel Park, social distance style of course. Bring your lawn chairs and drinks. Pizza will be provided at a small cost per person.
Field Trips: This is where we need you! CHC is a volunteer led organization! Any fun place you’d like to visit – chances are others would love to join you, especially if they offer discounts to groups! Even with a pandemic, there are still plenty of outdoor places to visit. Help us plan your next field trip with friends!
Family Center: Our weekly Thursday morning co-op is moving to Zoom for the Fall Semester. More information can be found here.
Play Dates in the Park: Come play and fellowship social distance style on Thursday afternoons while the weather is nice.
Mom’s Night Out: Bring your dinner or some coffee and enjoy some mom fellowship time without the kids. While the weather is nice we will meet at local parks once a month. When the weather turns we will move over Zoom to keep those chats going.
Mentor A Mom Program: Volunteer to be a mentor and be matched with a new homeschooling mom. This is a beautiful opportunity for our veteran families to connect with and encourage our new homeschooling families.
Mom’s Book Club: Join other moms for an online book based discussion club. More information to come.
Krannert Tickets: In the past, CHC has procured discounted Youth Performance Series tickets for our members. Members of CHC recently met with the Krannert Youth Series team to discuss covid concerns and give feedback on ideas for reaching the community with the performing arts. Krannert is still in its planning stages and awaiting word from the U of I on when they can begin performances. They hope to be able to offer some online workshops and possibly some shows to our community in the coming days. We will keep you posted.
Our goal is to come alongside and offer support in your homeschooling journey! We are always open to ideas to better offer that support! Don't hesitate to contact a board member for assistance in implementing a new idea or event!
