Why do we give kids blank sheets of paper and expect them to fill it?

Writing with IEW is a class that teaches kids to write using the classical model laid out by the Institute for Excellence in Writing. What is the classical model? Imitation! That is how many of our founding fathers, including Benjamin Franklin, learned to pen such wonderful texts. Students learn by modeling other writers before attempting the feat themselves.

Using the nine units in Teaching Writing: Structure and Style, the class provides students with the tools and techniques they need to approach writing assignments with confidence. Concepts are reinforced with games and weekly writing assignments.
