Behavior Covenant

Hearts Ministry/Co-op Behavior Covenant The purpose of Hearts ministry is to create and provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our teachers and students. This policy is based on the assumption that our teachers are responsible for the safety of students during class hours. This can only be achievable with the involvement of our parents who are an integral part in leading their students and helping follow our code of conduct below.

Purpose The purpose of this covenant is to establish a clear understanding of the expected behavior and responsibilities of students participating in Hearts, ensuring a positive and respectful learning environment that aligns with Christian values and the policies of First Baptist Church Biloxi. Expectations of Behavior Students participating in Hearts agree to adhere to the following behavioral expectations:

1. Respect: Treat all students, parents, and staff with kindness and respect, valuing each individual’s opinions and feelings.

2. Integrity: Demonstrate honesty in all interactions, including academic work and personal conduct.

3. Responsibility: Take responsibility for personal actions and their consequences, including completing assignments and participating actively in group activities.

4. Cooperation: Work collaboratively with peers and staff, fostering a spirit of teamwork and support.

5. Conflict Resolution: Address conflicts in a constructive manner, seeking guidance from parents or staff when necessary.

Code of Conduct Students shall refrain from the following behaviors:

1. Bullying, harassment, or intimidation of any kind.

2. Use of inappropriate language or gestures.

3. Disruptive behavior that interferes with the learning environment.

4. Any form of dishonesty, including cheating or plagiarism.

5. Disrespect towards property, including that of Hearts or the church, other students, and staff. Any destruction of property is not acceptable and will be at the parents’ expense.

Consequences of Misbehavior Failure to adhere to the expectations outlined in this covenant may result in the following consequences:

1. Verbal Warning: A discussion with the student regarding the behavior and its impact.

2. Written Warning: A formal notice to the parents regarding repeated misbehavior.

3. Temporary Suspension: A temporary removal from Hearts activities, pending a meeting with parents and Administrators.

4. Expulsion: In severe cases, or after repeated offenses, a student may be expelled from Hearts and no refund will be given.

Parental Involvement Parents agree to support Hearts behavioral expectations by:

1. Reinforcing the importance of respectful and responsible behavior at home.

2. Communicating with Administrators regarding any concerns or issues that may arise.

3. Attending meetings as necessary to discuss student behavior.
