How to Homeschool
Every family that wishes to homeschool compulsory school-age children - age 6 by September 1 until age 17 - must complete an enrollment form every year the child homeschools. This is in accordance with the Compulsory School Attendance Law §37-13-91(2) (c). Parents should keep a copy of the enrollment form for their records. Parents must fill one out for each child.
Home school enrollment must be completed by August 15 of each school year. You can not enroll until the previous year is finished.
Requirements for homeschool parents/guardians:
- Withdraw the student from school if currently enrolled in a public-school district.
- Complete homeschool enrollment form with the local School Attendance Officer by August 15.
- If you withdraw after school starts or move to the area after August 15, you must immediately complete the homeschool enrollment form.
Submit the form to your local school attendance officer, otherwise known as truancy officers or by emailing homeschool@mdek12.org
