Mission and our Beliefs

OUR MISSION

Compass Homeschool Co-op exists to glorify God by training our children to walk with Him in everything we do as homeschooling families.  Our vision is to see our children grow in the likeness of Jesus through education, services, relationships, and fun!  We offer a unique opportunity for homeschooling families to journey together in both academic and elective endeavors, service to others, character building, and fellowship.

"Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long."  Psalm 25:5

COMPASS HOMESCHOOL CO-OP STATEMENT OF BELIEF

The foundation of Compass and all of its classes are from a biblical worldview, so every family must adhere to the statement of beliefs in all areas of service. While there are truths other than these which are taught in the Bible (and all Scripture is equally important), this brief Statement of Belief delineates truth which are the biblical basis of our Co-op)

We Believe:

….that the Bible is the Word of God and without error in the original writings, and is to be the only rule and authority for faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21)

….in the one true God who is eternally and equally existent in three persons: God the Father; God the Son; and, God the Holy Spirit. (John 10:30; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2)

….that man came by direct creation of God and not by evolution. (Genesis 1-2; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17)

….that man was created in the image of God. Through man’s sin (by nature a sinner from birth), he was separated from God, becoming spiritually lost and needing to be born again. (Genesis 1:26-27; John 3:3; Romans 5:15)

….salvation is offered as a gift, free to the sinner by grace alone, by believing in and accepting Christ as personal Savior. Salvation is only through the shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-9)

….in the deity of Jesus Christ and that He was virgin-born, sinless, died on the cross, atoned for the sins of the world, was physically raised from the dead on the third day, which insures the resurrection of all believers who have personally received Him, and He is coming again. (Matt 1:23, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Acts 16:31, 1 Corinthians 3-4, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

….that marriage is the foundation of family life, and that God’s design for marriage is between one man and one woman (male and female) and anything outside that is contrary to the Word of God (Romans 1:18-32, Matt 19:4-5).

….that God is the giver of life and all human life is sacred from conception to its natural end and to be protected. (Genesis 1:27; Job 12:9-10; Psalm 139:13-16; Exodus 20:13; Psalm 82:3-4; Psalm 139:13; Isaiah 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5)

.…that God wonderfully and immutably creates a person exclusively male or female. These two distinct genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological gender and God-given identity is a rejection of the image of God within the person. (Gen 1:26-27, Matt 19:4)

These are statements we believe, act upon, and seek to follow in our co-op out of commitment and gratitude to the Lord.

**If questions arise that are not covered in the statement of faith, we encourage discussion, study of the Word of God, and prayer for God’s direction for your personal life with respect for others. It is never appropriate to tear down other people or organizations. We set aside our differences in order to serve and love people
