The Science Fair is for students of all ages to display their work and explore science projects done by other homeschooled children. This is an opportunity to foster the love of science. Our Science Fair is open to all homeschool families, not just HOPE members.
Registration is online or by mail. To mail in your registration, click on the pdf file below, print out and complete the form, then mail your registration and payment to the coordinator. To sign up online and pay via paypal (you do not need a paypal account), click on "Click here to sign up" at the bottom of this page.
Registration Fee: $7.50/child or $15.00/family
Registration Deadline: January 21, 2013 January 28
When registering online, the first page of registration is for the parent info. The second page is for the children you are registering.
General Information--This Science Fair is for students of all ages to display their work and explore science projects done by other homeschooled children. High School students are encouraged to participate, though serious science students who wish to compete in regional or statewide fairs should contact a local private school to get details on their requirements. Our science fair judges will talk to every participant, but will judge projects only if parents request it on the registration form. Every child will receive a certificate of participation. Competitive exhibits will be judged on accuracy, neatness, interest, and complexity applicable to child’s age. Awards will be presented at 1:00 p.m. This is an opportunity to foster the love of science.
E= Science Experiment: Student will use the scientific method to conduct an experiment. This should include Question (or the Purpose), Hypothesis (what you think will happen), Procedure (with control and independent variables), and Results (with data collected and graphs to display the data) and Conclusion.
D= Science Demonstration: Student will demonstrate, explain, or display some scientific principle, concept or topic. For example: how something works, or what it is. (any topic where no experiment is being conducted)
C= Collection: The young student will display a collection with general information about the collection. (Ages 8 and under only)
