How to Register

STEP 1          GO TO homeschool-life.com/ia/joysingers

  1. Click on the person+ icon at the top right of the homepage to "Request Membership". Fill out the online profile form. (*See NOTE below.) Requesting membership will allow you to receive more information about Joy Singers.

    • If you need an explanation of some of the questions asked, SEE DEFINITIONS BELOW. We have defined some of the features available to “Members” so that you can decide how you want your site to function.  The red (*) are required fields, otherwise it is your choice as to what you would like to include on the website about your family.  We will be communicating with you all year through this membership list with notification of performances, changes in schedule, or reminders for each week.

  2. Before completing the form, remember to put a check in the box for “Terms of Service” at the top of the page. 

  3. Click “Continue” at the bottom of the screen when you are finished with the Membership Request.

  4. You will receive an “Approved” Email letting you know that you have been accepted as a “Joy Singers Member” -- AFTER the administrator has received your Registration Form and fees. (See Step 2) You will be able to enter the membership page of the website following receipt of this “Approved Email.”

IMPORTANT NOTE:  There are 2 sides to our website.  The Public side is general information about Joy Singers. The Membership side requires a login. The Membership side is PRIVATE and ONLY Joy Singer Families are allowed access.  The “family info” you enter will only be seen by Joy Singers members.  The Membership Page also has more information for you: the calendar for the year, uniform requirements, contact information, etc. 


STEP 2        SUBMIT REGISTRATION FORM / FEE

  1. Review Choir Documents (Statement of Purpose, Choir Requirements, Behavior Guidelines, and Membership Agreement)

  2. Print, Complete, Sign, & Send Registration Form and Fees to Marti Jo McBee, 640 NE 54th Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50313. Your student(s) spot in a choir will not be confirmed until receipt of the form and fees.

Registration runs through September 23, 2022.


Step 3          ATTEND MANDATORY PARENT MEETING

Attend the Parent Meeting on Friday, September 9th, at 1:45 pm.  The meeting will be held at Rising Sun Church, DURING the first choir rehearsal.


Step 4          SIGN UP FOR CO-OP RESPONSIBILITIES

Sign Up for CO-OP Responsibilities from Friday, September 9th - Friday, September 30th.  This is NOT done online. You will need to come to Rising Sun and sign up after the Parents’ Meeting. Each family will sign up for 2 responsibilities on the first choir rehearsal, then return the following week and sign up for 2 more responsibilities as needed.  This allows all families equal opportunity to select their preferred co-op area and date.


Step 5          ORDER UNIFORMS

  1. You must come to our 2nd and 3rd choir rehearsals to order uniforms. 

  2. Kim Meyer will be available to measure kids and take orders before and during choir rehearsal on September 16 & 23rd. 

  3. If you have uniforms that your children have outgrown, you may sell or trade them during this time.  Shirts, Pants, Skirts, Shoes, etc will need to be labeled with an envelope stating your name and the price desired.

  4. You can also check the FORUM link.  This page can be found on the Membership site after you have been approved.  This is where you can find a list of “threads” from Joy Singers members who may want to sell or trade a uniform article. You are also able to send your own thread out to the group letting them know you are looking for a particular article for your child's uniform.  (This article could be black pants, shirts, blouses, shoes, etc.)  Click on the link “Forum” and click “new thread.”  Add your title and message.  Be sure to click “Add” at the bottom of the page.

 

Definitions of the Features on the Website

As you complete the "Request for Membership" online form you are asked about the following features.

Weekly Email Update - This email gives you a weekly update on the Joy Singers Calendar.  Please answer “YES” to this question. This will keep you informed of all that is expected for rehearsal or performances for that week.

Forum Emails - Through these emails, you are welcome to use this form of communication with all the members of Joy Singers. For example, if you would like to sell a girl's blue shirt (size 8) and want a size 10 for the next year, then you would be able to communicate this need to the group.   It can also work the other way if you are in need of a particular size you can ask the group through the “Forum”.   In order to do so, you will need to choose the “Forum” Link when you are logged in as a member and follow the steps described.  This particular feature does not need to be limited to the topic of Joy Singers.  If you are pondering other topics regarding your homeschooling and need input from fellow families, you are welcome to do so through the FORUM.

Classifieds – This is a form of  “advertisement”.  Items or service can be advertised on this post and does not have to relate to Joy Singers.  However, Joy Singers reserve the right to not post classifieds deemed not appropriate for the site.   If you choose to use this feature you will need to log in and choose the “Classifieds” Link and follow the steps described.
