Joy Singers provides choral training for homeschooled students in the Des Moines area.

CHOIRS FOR ALL STUDENTS

Dolce Choir (5-6 year olds, K-1st grade)

Legato Choir (7-8 year olds, 2-3rd grade)

Treble Choir (9-10 year olds, 4-5th grade)

Concert Choir (11-13 year olds, 6-8th grade)

Chorale (14–18 year olds, 9-12th grade)

Honor Choir/Ladies Ensemble (9-12th grade) *Audition only choirs

WEEKLY CHOIR REHEARSALS 

Joy Singers meets on Friday afternoons from 1:30 - 3:00 pm throughout the school year.  Choir rehearsals are held at Rising Sun Church in Pleasant Hill. We will have a separate location/venue for concerts.

Our first choir rehearsal is Friday, September 15, 2023.

There are no rehearsals during the month of December.

The year ends with our Spring Concert on Friday, April 26, 2024.

PERFORMANCES

Friday, November 17, 2023  – Fall Concert  (2:00 pm-3:00 pm)

Friday, February 9, 2024 – Possible Nursing Home Outreach (TBD)

Friday, April 26, 2024 – Spring Concert  (7:00 pm-9:00 pm)

*Note: Additional nursing home outreaches may be added for individual choirs. These performances will be scheduled during regular choir rehearsals.

OBJECTIVES

Joy Singers choirs offer many opportunities to our members:

• Seek to glorify God through singing and fellowship
• Use proper vocal techniques to sing quality choral literature
• Build music literacy skills
• Develop a sense of teamwork and personal responsibility
• Meet and make new friends
• Share God’s message of love and grace through ministry outreaches and performances

JOY SINGERS IS A CO-OP CHOIR

Joy Singers is made up of families who volunteer their time and talents to help teach children music. The directors, pianists, coordinators, etc. are all volunteer positions. We need the help of all families to make Joy Singers possible.  We need parents to watch directors’ and assistants’ children in the nursery during rehearsals, set up for Friday rehearsals, and help set the stage on performance days. Every family is asked to sign up for 4 responsibilities for the year. See Choir Requirements for more details.
