Ice Skating for All Ages!
WHEN: Friday, January 10th from 1 - 2 pm
WHERE: UIUC Ice Arena
WHO: All are welcome - skaters and non-skaters alike! Those who prefer not to skate are welcome to sit & join the lively conversation in the warm lobby. This is not a drop-off event; all non-adult skaters must have a designated responsible adult present.
COST: CHC members cost $2 per skater per day. Non-CHC guests cost $5 per skater. (CHC membership is by family, so an older child home from college is still included in your membership.) Skate rental is included! Non-skaters neither register nor pay.
Sign up is required and payment is due one day before the event. We are not able to accept payment on the day of the event. Please pay online via PayPal, or send a check made out to CHC to CHC c/o Jenny Walk, 132 E Bryant Street, Bement IL 61813
SIGN UP: Sign up on the calendar for Dec 17 and/or Jan 10. The event is public, so tell your homeschool friends who are not part of CHC about the event - they should be able to sign up & pay online.
PARKING: There are metered spaces on side streets near the ice arena... bring quarters or download the UIUC parking app.
ICE SKATING TIPS: Arrive 15 minutes early to have time to put on your skates. Tightly laced skates work best. Bring gloves and wear layers of clothing. Have a child who can't skate? The ice arena has child-sized metal trainers they can hold onto and push around the ice. Here are more tips and a helpful video that even teaches the proper way to get up from a fall... just in case!
The ice arena has requested that we not bring in outside food or drink, though probably a water bottle/baby bottle/toddler snack would be fine. They do have concessions available for purchase.
