Book Talk with Desserts

Join us for a discussion of The Power of Showing Up: How Parental Presence Shapes our Kids and How Their Brains Get Wired by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson. It is not necessary to have read the book prior to the evening, but it is necessary to want to eat desserts!

Scientific studies repeatedly have shown that the one of the single best predictors for how a child will turn out — in measure after measure — is that they had at least one person who was emotionally attuned and present for them — what can simply be called showing up. Authors Siegel and Bryson present 4 ways we as parents can show up for our children by helping them feel safe, seen, soothed, and secure. We will unpack these 4 concepts in our discussion. And we will enjoy fabulous desserts while we do so.
