Eagles Golf

ECCHO Eagles Golf Program

The ECCHO Eagles Golf Program is an outreach ministry to the families of ECCHO. Its purpose is to provide a developmental, fun, competitive, and safe environment for students ages 11 - 18. Our goal is to instill in homeschooled students the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect for authority through the sport of golf.

The golf program is new to ECCHO, started in the fall of 2023, and we are excited to see it grow.  Program goals include weekly practices, group golf lessons with a golf pro, participation in tournaments for middle and high school players, and growing as individuals in a Christian environment.

ECCHO Eagles athletes are seen as leaders within the program and are held to a higher standard.

Evaluations:

Golf evaluations will be held on August 5th and 6th for the 24-25 academic year.  Students ages 11 (by September 1st) to 18 are eligible.  Student-athlete candidates must come prepared in appropriate golf attire and bring all necessary equipment and water to every evaluation.

Candidates will be evaluated by the ECCHO athletic director and a golf professional. Student-athlete candidates may be asked to return on additional evaluation days before a final decision is made. Results will be emailed to student-athletes parents within one week following final evaluations.

Commitment:

Eagles Golf is an academic year-long program. The team member's term begins September 1st and ends at the end of May of the following year. As part of their place on the team, team members commit to participating in practices, tournaments, golf events, various activities, fundraisers, parades, etc. (Special circumstances are considered on a case-by-case basis—please talk to the athletic director.)

Practices will include one group lesson and one day of practice per week.

Practice schedule:  Group lesson:  One afternoon per week - day and time TBD  Practice Day:  One afternoon per week - day and time TBD

Goals: Group lesson—one day per week (September—November), one hour in the afternoon with Golf Pro; scheduled practice—approximately two hours one afternoon per week.

Range Program:  All program participants will be required to sign up for the range program so he/she will be able to use the range and play rounds weekly.

Competition:

Our goal is to be a competitive team that works hard on and off the course and shines His light for the world to see. The Eagles' long-term golf program goals include entering a middle and high school-aged team into local (and perhaps travel) tournaments.

Players will qualify for each tournament we enter - qualifying will include evaluations by Golf Pro and qualifying rounds.

*** Since we are such a new program, the commitment of the students and parents to the program and practice will determine if we can accomplish this goal in the 24-25 academic year.

Calendar:

The Eagles golf program events and activities will be posted on the team calendar and the ECCHO calendar (www.eccho.us). Parents and program participants are responsible for keeping up with the calendar.

Groupme:

Eagles Golf has a GroupMe dedicated to the program's student-athletes and at least one parent per student-athlete. It is important that you have the app and keep up with notifications.

Attendance and Absences:

Parents and team members are expected to communicate any issues or problems that arise to the athletic director promptly. Team members are expected to be at all scheduled golf practices and events. Understandably, things come up, and sometimes student-athletes are unavailable. Please communicate with the athletic director as soon as possible. When possible, please schedule vacations, family events, and other commitments during the off-season. Participants must be on time, dressed appropriately, and ready to participate.

Uniform:

Uniform goals:  slacks and or walking shorts, embroidered polos, windsuits

Fundraising:

Golf is an expensive sport, and ECCHO recognizes the need for fundraising to help cover some of the program's costs. Student-athletes and families are expected to participate in all fundraising opportunities.

2024-2025 Golf Fees:

Golf Fee per player is $425 per year

Probable expenses include:

Coaching, uniforms,  events and activities, and equipment

Players will be responsible for the range program fee (determined by club not ECCHO) and tournament fees

Golf Program members are expected to follow all the guidelines as laid out in the ECCHO Athletic Handbook.

Hey, y'all I am so excited about getting this program going!  ECCHO athletics programs are heading into their 5th year with Eagles Baseball leading the way, we've since added Volleyball, Cheer, and Soccer to our program and I am really pumped about adding this option to our programs as well.  I ask that everyone please be gracious and kind as we get this program off the ground.  I will be working with the information that I gathered at the Golf Informational Meeting to set more definite parameters for fees and practice days.  Below you will find the information that I gave out in the meeting.  This is an outline of what we are looking to offer this year.  Please remember that we are in the early stages of figuring out all the details, so the information below may seem vague at this time, but if you have questions, please contact me directly.  If you are interested in our Golf Program, Please download and fill out the Golf Program Interest Sheet and return it to me at the email below.
