Tues Co-op Teaching

We do not require all co-op parents to teach. We require all co-op parents to help in some way at co-op, which may include teaching. Keep in mind, if we do not have teachers, we do not have co-op classes.

Thank you for teaching!

Ideas for Co-op Classes:

The best co-op classes are those in which you're passionate to teach, classes that include hands-on activities/games, and engaging discussion. Think about what you'd want to teach your kids but would make for a great subject to learn in the classroom. Plan for seven dates/ topics related to the class subject.

Steps to Teaching (for all co-teachers and teachers):

1. Review the Instructor Guidelines

2. Be sure the Co-op Participant Form is updated on your Profile

3. Submit the Co-op Class Proposal form (one per class) before the deadline.

When to submit class proposal:

  • Fall class proposals due by second Friday in June
  • Spring class proposals due by second Friday in December

These dates end up being about 1.5 weeks after Co-op ends.
This is so we all can enjoy our summer & winter breaks
and come back refreshed for the following semester with a Class Schedule already in place.

Benefits of Teaching:

  • Earn credits
  • Register for classes first (for the hour you are teaching)

We understand teaching is a BIG job. We want to do everything we can to support and encourage you to help your class be a success.

In an effort to make teaching a shared job, prevent burnout, and create a stronger community... we highly encourage classes be taught by two co-teachers who equally share the planning, prep, and teaching of the class. However, you may also sign up to teach a class solo. You may only teach and/or co-teach for up to two periods.

Each Teacher and Co-Teacher will earn “credit” for each class they teach and can earn up to 4 credits per semester. Teacher credits will not exceed co-op fees. (For example, if you earn 3 credits but the total fees due for your children to take co-op classes is $24, then you will receive a credit for $24, not $30.)

Credit = $10

Co-teach a class = 1 credit

Teach a class = 2 credits

Co- teaching is equally sharing the planning, prepping, and teaching of a class with one other parent (shared commitment/ responsibility).

Teaching is planning, prepping, and teaching a class (full commitment/ responsibility—must have an assistant teacher).
