Co-op FAQ's

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

“What type of co-op is Heritage?”

Heritage co-op is a group of Christian homeschooling families that work together, meeting weekly or bi-weekly for educational enrichment classes. Our classes are planned and taught by Heritage parents. Parents take turns teaching. As we grow we may offer some classes that are organized and taught by one parent and made available by age group or interest.

“Do I still need to register with Florida as a homeschooler?

Yes! Heritage is only a supplement to your curriculum at home. We assume all members are in full compliance with the state and have sent a letter of Intent to Homeschool.

“Are classes offered for all ages?”

Yes! We offer classes for children from Pre-K through High school. However, each family must have a Kindergarten student or higher to join. We separate classes into different age groups according to our member enrollment.

“Do I have to use a certain curriculum or method of homeschooling in my co-op class?”

Absolutely not. It is left to the teachers/parents to decide what type of class they want to and what method they would like to use to teach it. As long as it fits within the our Statement of Faith and group values. We offer ideas an support along the way.

“What if my child works above or below grade level? How do I pick which classes are right for my child?”

All of the classes are listed in age ranges are meant as a guideline. If your child is advanced academically, but not socially, it might be best to keep them in their age group. If you have questions contact us directly. The Heritage Team sometimes with teacher input will be able to help determine whether or not the class will be a good fit for your child. Heritage age groups typically align with Florida enrollment age standards.
