About Us

Hello, and welcome to the LCHEA website! We are a non-profit, Christian support group established for homeschooling parents in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. We have been in existence for over 30 years and our purpose is to provide support, guidance, and encouragement to one another based on Christian principles. These principles are outlined in our Statement of Faith. Among the many things offered to LCHEA members are field trip opportunities for every age group, spelling bee, testing, prom, father/daughter dance, clubs, STEM Expo, yearbook, graduation and much, much more!

Please note, LCHEA is a homeschool support group only and it does not give you legal homeschooling status in the state of South Carolina. Please refer to the SC Homeschool Laws page to learn more of the three options available within our state.
Take some time to browse through our public page information to learn more about who we are and what is available for your family. If you feel that LCHEA may be a good fit for you, please consider joining us for the school year.

Important Deadlines

  • We will open registration for the 2021-2022 school year on June 1st.

  • The current LCHEA membership year ends on May 31st, 2021.

Please note that LCHEA is a support group,
NOT an accountability group.

An accountability group is an organization you must join to be legally homeschooling in the state of South Carolina. There are many options, please see THIS PAGE for more details.

A support group is an optional organization you may join to add enrichment to your homeschool experience. They add opportunities for field trips, extracurricular classes, play dates, events, and more. There are many benefits to joining a support group, but a support group is optional. Please see THIS PAGE for the benefits of joining LCHEA.

Curriculum drop off times:

? Friday, June 4th, 10am-5pm in the Gym Lobby at Northwood Baptist Church

Important Note to Sellers: All items must be EDUCATION and HOMESCHOOL RELATED. While there are toys and games that are definitely great to use during school time, please remember this is not a yard sale. We want to have room to share all the fabulous tools with other homeschool families and table space is important! We will also have a FREE table, but, again, please remember this is not a yard sale!

Selling: Sellers have the responsibility to set prices for their own materials and to mark them by carefully taping the provided curriculum sale tags to the FRONT cover of books and where appropriate on other items {only use painters tape}. Each tag should be filled out entirely. If an item is not tagged, it will not be sold! Sale tags are attached as a pdf as well as the sellers tag we will need to have completely filled out and turned in to us at the time of drop-off. Use rubber bands, string or Ziploc bags to keep multiple items together.

Rosetta Stone MAY NOT BE SOLD due to copyright and their policies about reusing items.

Price all items in increments of 50 cents.

PLEASE place sale tags on the FRONT of items when possible!!

Sellers may also want to keep a list of all the items they bring so that they will know which items to look for at pick-up time. We will not check off items or keep track of items - this is for your personal use.

Please have a seller's tag (attached as a pdf) included with your books.

Drop-off: All books must be dropped off on Friday between10am-5pm. If you absolutely cannot drop off your books during this time, we suggest that you have a friend drop them off for you.

Purchasing: Cash, Credit or Check will be accepted as payment.

We appreciate your grace and patience with us during your checkout time, especially in consideration of the magnitude of sorting and pricing that is required at the end. We want to do this accurately and provide everyone with a great buying and selling situation!

Earnings: All earnings will be mailed to you within a week of the sale date. Everyone must address an envelope (will be provided by LCHEA) when dropping off books.

Pick-Up: Pick-up time will be from 2:00-2:30 pm. We will NOT hold onto books for you - they must be picked up or they will be considered a donation. We will shut the doors at 1pm and organize all books for pick up. The doors will reopen at 2:00pm only for books to be picked up by the seller.

All materials ‘to be donated’ or ‘free’ will be held for a few months to bless anyone in need; a list will be made and posted to multiple Facebook accounts and on LCHEA. This has been a blessing to many the past couple years, thank you for your donations to help other homeschool families.

Sellers are responsible for taking any leftover items with them, or the materials will be donated immediately following clean-up {regardless if the ‘pick-up’ box was checked on the items or not}.
