Mrs. Heather Barth
Heather and her husband Aaron have three children and have homeschooled their children since 2014. She has experience parenting children with ADHD, OCD, anxiety, depression, speech delay, dyslexia, allergies, asthma, eczema, and a health emergency that required hospitalization and surgeries. Heather graduated with a BA in Elementary Education and BS in Elementary Education. She has done a considerable amount of teaching at church and an educational cooperative. She has also had the opportunity to tutor intermittently throughout the years.
Mrs. Nicole Brockwell
Nicole has been homeschooling for over 13 years and has a passion for helping students grow in confidence and understanding. She holds a BS in Accounting from North Carolina Wesleyan College and has served for several years as both a tutor and director in her local homeschool co-op. Nicole loves seeing students experience that “lightbulb” moment when a challenging concept finally clicks. She is actively involved in her church and homeschool community where she enjoys encouraging and supporting other families on their educational journeys. When she’s not teaching, Nicole loves spending time with her family, cooking, reading, working puzzles, playing board games, and enjoying the outdoors.
Mrs. Jessica Cole
Jessica is a homeschool graduate and homeschooling mother of five. She holds a degree in English Literature with an emphasis in creative writing. She teaches high school literature at a local homeschool co-op, and she enjoys putting her composition skills to use in writing for the HSLDA blog and in creating skits and plays. Drama has been a major interest of hers since childhood, and she has written, directed, and starred in various plays in church, college, and co-op theater. (Most recently, she adapted and directed a production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe at co-op.) Some of her other interests include music / singing and photography.
Mrs. Rebecca Conklin
Rebecca is a dedicated and experienced tutor specializing in Barton Reading and Spelling. With a Master’s in Elementary Education and years of hands-on experience as a homeschool mom of two boys, she has a deep understanding of how to support diverse learning needs. Rebecca’s teaching approach is centered on meeting students where they are, tailoring each lesson to help them succeed and grow in confidence. She’s especially passionate about working with children with special learning differences, helping them overcome challenges and find joy in reading and learning. Outside of tutoring, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and playing the piano, all of which keep her grounded and energized in her teaching.
Mrs. Jackie Dockery
With over thirteen years of homeschool experience, Jackie Dockery has homeschooled her children, participated in the initial years of Simple Gifts Co-op, and served as a board member for Christian Homeschool Association of Rocky Mount (CHARM). She holds a B.S. in Information Systems from Hampton University and a M.S. in Computer Information Systems from George Mason University. Now she is excited about providing instructional support and showing how much fun learning can be.
Mrs. Kristi Dozier
With twenty-five years of experience in the world of education, Kristi Dozier has dedicated her life to helping hundreds of students reach their God-given potential. Kristi spent almost a decade in the classroom before transitioning into the publishing industry. For fifteen years, she served as a copy editor and writer for an educational publisher, creating and editing Bible curriculum for schools, homeschools, and churches. During that time, she also taught language arts classes to homeschoolers on the side, in addition to working with a handful of students with dyscalculia. She now works full-time as a one-on-one dyslexia specialist. Kristi has a B.S. in Education from Toccoa Falls College. She is trained in the Barton Reading & Spelling Program and will soon be certified in the Equipping Minds Cognitive Development Program. Over the next three summers, she plans to complete the NILD program, at the end of which she will be a certified Educational Therapist.
Mr. Brent Hoggard
Brent Hoggard has been a homeschooling Dad for 20+ years. Brent completed his B.S. degree in Industrial Technology and his M.S. degree in Construction Management from East Carolina University. He is an auctioneer and operates The Red Barn Auction Co. He is an adjunct professor at Nash Community College in the technical education department. Brent loves cooking and has recently completed his ServSafe certification as well as the first level of NCC Culinary Bootcamp. He enjoys teaching, serving at his church, and watching old movies and Andy Griffith.
Mrs. Marcy Hoggard
Marcy graduated from East Carolina University Honors Program, Summa Cum Laude, with a BA in History and a Minor in Music. She taught Kindermusik to children 0-7 years old for 10 years. In addition to homeschooling her six children, she has enjoyed teaching history classes at a local homeschool co-op for the past 10 years. Marcy enjoys antiques, reading, and singing in the church choir.
Mrs. Renee Holloman
Renée Holloman is excited to become a part of Bridge the Gap! She and her husband, Kelly, have 4 beautiful children, Kelsey (Jason), Kally (Garett), Jacob (Lindsey), Luke, along with three precious grand babies and another on the way! They are active members of Wave Wilson and love spending family time together, whether at Sunday night supper, on the ball field, the pickleball court, playing board games, or just relaxing and laughing.
Renée has been in and out of the classroom since 2010. She has taught and tutored in the public school system, private schools, as well as, homeschooled. Aside from core academics, she enjoys teaching American Sign Language and sewing to people of all ages. One of her favorite things to do is teach others to learn or improve a skill all while discipling them on how to use those skills to minister and witness to others in the name of Jesus. She is a firm believer that every gift given from God is to be used to glorify Him and as a tool to share the love of Jesus with others.
Mrs. Jen Judd
I’m Jen: I spend my days married to my best friend, homeschooling our three kiddos, and herding our cats and dogs. I love drinking coffee, and crafting as much as I can! I also love reading, writing, and collecting and making pretty things. I’ve been creating and crafting practically my whole life, and I love sharing and teaching my skills to my friends, family and students. My classes are known for their relaxed, fun atmosphere, blending MANY fundamental mediums and techniques, with as much creative flair as possible.
Mrs. Agnes Moore
Agnes Moore is a registered nurse and award-winning healthcare educator with decades of clinical and teaching experience. A graduate of East Carolina University College of Nursing and Hall of Fame inductee, she holds an active North Carolina nursing license.She taught Health Occupations Education at Fike High School, later serving as statewide Nurse Aide Program Manager for the NC Department of Public Instruction, retiring as a Distinguished Career Technical Education Educator. A credentialed NNAAP Nurse Aide Evaluator since 2006, she currently represents North Carolina in a DoDEA partnership providing Nurse Aide training and certification to military dependents overseas.Certified in water fitness instruction and CPR/AED/First Aid, Agnes brings deep expertise and a passion for preparing future healthcare professionals to Bridge the Gap Learning Center.
