Reading, Math, & Cognitive Interventions

Interventions at Bridge the Gap Learning Center are designed for those who learn differently. We provide one-on-one and small group sessions using evidence-based methods to address learning challenges such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and executive functioning deficits. These sessions are taught by degreed professionals who specialize in helping students achieve. Our tailored approach ensures students build confidence and skills.

Intervention services include:

  • Barton Reading & Spelling intervention program is an Orton-Gillingham based program, considered the gold standard for reading disabilities and dyslexia intervention. Barton Reading and Spelling Program is a structured literacy program. This multi-sensory, direct, explicit, structured and sequential intense intervention program is research and evidence based. http://bartonreading.com/

  • Right Start Mathematics is a complete elementary and middle-school program that uses visualization of quantities, de-emphasizes counting, and provides strategies and games for learning the facts. The primary learning tool is the Cotter Abacus, a specially designed two-sided abacus that is both kinesthetic and visual. https://rightstartmath.com

  • Math-U-See Curriculum is a complete and comprehensive K–12 math curriculum. Each level concentrates on a specific set of skills, while continuously reviewing and integrating topics and concepts presented in previous levels. By using tools such as videos, manipulatives, and other resources, the Math-U-See Curriculum is designed to appeal to all types of learners in a variety of learning environments. https://mathusee.com/

  • Individual sessions can increase attention, processing speed, memory, oral and written skills, auditory processing, and classroom readiness.

  • Assessment will be done with the PAST, Barton, and other screeners. The student’s current functional level is identified through assessment and annual achievement testing measures progress.  https://thepasttest.com/

  • MindWorks is a series of stations set up for students to work through before and/or after their sessions that will reinforce the lessons, develop executive functioning and cognitive skills, and enhance balance and motor skills that might be influencing learning potential. By having parents participate, they can learn how to incorporate these exercises into their routine at home.
